Can someone please explain this title given to the Blessed Virgin?
God Bless

From St. Bonaventure:“As every mandate of grace that is sent by a king passes through the palace gates, so does every grace that comes from heaven to the world pass through the hands of Mary the Gate of Heaven.”
From St. Ambrose:“Mary is called the gate of heaven because no one can enter that blessed kingdom without passing through her.”
There are more beautiful quotes and thoughts on Our Lady and her various titles here: catholictradition.org/Mary/mary18a.htm“Who is this Gate if not Mary? Mary is the Gate through which Christ entered this world!”

Our Lady of Loreto, pray for us!
Jesus said that He is the way the truth and the live. No one comes to the Father but through me. Jesus also called Himself the Gate. Man can say what they want about their opinion of the “word”, but i will stick with Jesus as being the only gate.Thanks!![]()
I agree that Jesus is the Gate of Heaven, however, without Mary’s “yes” we would not have access to this Gate. As Mark Shea explained better than I in his trilogy on Mary, what we say about Mary reflects on her role in the Incarnation. Any title given to her points to Jesus. We do not choose to go to Jesus through Mary, it is God who chose to bring Jesus to us through her. A truth explained by St. Louis de Montfort in Total Consecration.Jesus said that He is the way the truth and the live. No one comes to the Father but through me. Jesus also called Himself the Gate. Man can say what they want about their opinion of the “word”, but i will stick with Jesus as being the only gate.
