Because when they where old (30 plus ) average life expectancy of 39 in those day the sons had to support the family. If he Joseph was old then one of his son’s from before Jesus would have supported the family
We don’t know the precise details of who supported the family. However the argument that carpenters gave up work at 30 is false. Yes AVERAGE life expectancies were low due to infant mortality, disease etc., but people still lived and worked up until 70. In poor countries in Africa and Asia, average life expectancy is low now, but people still work to old age.

ALL the Ancient churches call Mary Mother of God, Catholic, Eastern orthodox, Oriental orthodox, Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian etc. So too do most Anglicans, and the Lutheran Church specifically defines her as Mother of God in its Book of Concord. This is because Mother of God is the title that defines the fact that Jesus IS God and also Son of Mary. To deny it is to deny those things, to deny the INCARNATION, and to make oneself outside the bounds of Christianity.

The word we translate as WOMAN is not a term of abuse. It could perhaps better be translated LADY.
And although Jesus says. “My hour is not yet come,” He actually does as His mother asks.
Under the law of Moses which Mary and Joseph followed see Luke 2:21 thru Luke 2:35 it would have been a sin for them not to have sexual relations as married people.

Secondly, Jewish marriage is in two parts. The first is the BETROTHAL, this is a first stage of marriage where the two are bound, but are not ALLOWED to have sexual relations. This is the only stage that is mentioned in the bible. Even when Mary and Joseph travel to bethlehem just before Jesus birth, scripture still only describes them as BETROTHED. The second stage, the Canopy wedding, which permits sex, is never mentioned in scripture.
Thirdly Numbers 30 sets out precise conditions under which a vow such as of Virginity can be made by a wife, and must be honoured by her husband.
Everthing about mary you sent me is about past century conferences that proclaim her propetual virginity, but has no direct scripture verses proving her life time of virginity. If God wanted us to see her as a perfect virginal person it would have been written in scripture.
If God wanted us to believe the Trinity, it would be in scripture too, right?
The fact that the Catholic church teaches this and there is no scripture to back up its claim. it reminds me of the curse in revelations DO NOT ADD OR SUBTRACT FROM GODS WORD OR THERE WILL BE A CURSE UPON YO U.

The Bible was assembled by the Catholic Church in 382 AD at the Councils of Hippo and Carthage. if your friend reads the Bible he will see that Jesus’s teaching authority was granted not to a bok, but to the Church He founded.

Mary gave Jesus His human nature. Did she give Jesus a sinful nature?
