A question for former members of a Masonic Lodge:

Is there a way of obtaining a list of news executives whose masonic affiliations are a matter of public record?

Please quote the source. We don’t want to make any false statements.😉

I’m not a Mason, but Why do you want to know?

They’re a bunch of old men who do good things for small children. That’s it.

I don’t want to be part of the knee jerk paranoia from unreliable web sites. I just want facts. I came across a certain site that listed several top news executives who were known masons but I don’t trust the site.

This has to be established first. I am not putting down the old men who do good things for small children. Their works are commendable. But they are not all old men or guys looking for a night out. Once it can be established who-is-who in the media, then we can proceed to ruling out any agendas the masons may have towards the Catholic Church. If they have one, and I think they do, then what is it, and what do they want?

Um…good luck to you in that.

Threads regarding Freemasonry have not be uncommon on CA forum. Humanum Genus, encyclical of Pope Leo XIII on Freemasonry, details that organization and its anti-Catholic nature.

Yes, I’ve read this. Um-what’s your point? I wasn’t defending Freemasonry. I don’t think it’s nearly as important or influential as other Catholics do. Like I said, they’re a bunch of old men who get together and talk about the good old days, and raise money for their hospitals which take care of children. Nothing more or less. There is no conspiracy or anything else. They don’t control USA politics, world domination is not their goal, and they didn’t kill Kennedy, cause 9/11, or are planning a one world currency either.

I know the OP didn’t say they did any of the above. I’m not Oscar Wilde or George Bernad Shaw, but I’m using satire as a point.

I’m sure you were not. Sometimes, satire doesn’t translate well on an internet forum. Happy Easter!

If Freemasonry ever had a program against the Catholic Church, it never seems to have made the news. Maybe in centuries past it had some influence, but who hears about it now. According to what I have read, their numbers have dropped markedly over the past few decades, just like other service clubs and social organizations like the Elks, Moose, etc. They do a lot of good raising money for hospitals that provide treatment for children. The ones I know are middle aged, family men, who from all appearances are good members of society. I understand they are a “secret society” but so are many other organizations such as college fraternities.

The Masons do not have any agenda against the Catholic Church. I was a Mason, everyone knew I was Catholic, and no one every uttered a single word about the Catholic Church or any other church or faith for that matter. It’s just a fraternal organization that is poorly understood by the Church. Too bad, I enjoyed all the good we did for children, but had to give it up because by Church said I could not be a member. The things my fellow Catholics would say about the Masons was very surprising in that it was mostly lies and half-truths. But just as you cannot fight city hall and win, you cannot discuss the subject rationally with any member of the Church leadership. So I quit the Masons rather than fight it.

Though the lower members of the masons do not have an agenda against the Church…the Upper members are firmly against the Holy Church and all of Her works…

Having been a Mason, I know of no “lower members” or “upper members.” Please cite examples of this firm opposition and agenda against to the Catholic Church?

I hope we are not lumping anti-Catholics who happen to be Masons into one big damnation against an entire group. For example, I have known many Catholics throughout the years who are racist against blacks. If I used the same logic as I think you are trying to use, then I would have to say the whole Church is racist because some of its members are racist.

Let’s keep the beliefs of individuals separate from the entire organization. That is the only fair way to treat it.

There is no such thing as “lower” or “upper” members in Freemasonry.

Blue Lodge has three degrees. There are concordant bodies which masons are allowed to join, but in the sense they are not part of the freemasonry blue lodge but separate.

Any good Catholic would not defend the Masons, Holy Mother Church has said what we are to believe and that’s it…

The following should help clarify things:

It does not. It is based on very old, and very outdated information and only references things written by individuals not speaking for the organization. It talks about people hundreds of years ago who were anti-Catholic and because they belonged to the Masons, it made the entire organization damned. The Church needs to look at the organization today, what they say today, what they do today in order to judge the fraternity fairly and accurately.

I will always defend moral, honest and caring men (and women) and those who work for charity and the benefit of their fellow man. If such defense means I am a bad Catholic, then so be it. I am just tired of the Church treating this organization poorly because its judgement is based on ignorance, half-truths, opinions, old outdated and poorly written documentation.

Sorry buddy but you are wrong. My Father-in-Law was one. And high up in the ranks also. And his Love for the Pope was unreal.

I will never forget there was a Christmas Eve Mass live on TV with the Pope. My kids had it on and when he walked in the room and saw that he was so upset. He screamed what is he doing on there. My kids were small at the time, were so confused, they knew my Dads love for the Pope and assumed he loved the Pope also. They were like its the Pope Pap doing Christmas. He yelled get him off of there,

So Please do not tell me their love for us. I saw the Love for us first hand, so did my Children. We lived it buddy, They have no Love for the RCC. None at all. Maybe you have to live though the hate to understand the hate. But it is there. And it is Pure hate!

My F-I-L is gone now. But I do pray for him. But even today when I walk into that house I can still feel that silent hate that was still left for me. He wanted my husband to become a Mason and my husband never wanted to. So of course it was my fault. And of course because I was Catholic.

But I believe that God has opened his eyes now, and every time I enter the house I do feel less hate everytime. As I pray as time goes on it will be gone forever. When I enter that house someday and feel a calm peace feeling, I will then know for sure that he is at peace.🤷

Sorry friend, you are wrong. You are lumping the feelings on one individual because he was a Mason and attaching it to the entire organization.

Using your logic, I had a Catholic friend who hated blacks. He would always yell and scream at any black leader on the television. Does that make the entire Catholic Church racist? Of course not. Neither does your father-in-law’s anti papal feelings reflective of all Masonic organizations.

Thats using my logic. Okay then lets use this logic if the Masons were not against the CC why are we forbidden as Catholic’s to be one. Do you think the Church would forbid this for no reason?
