Yes, you can get some nice things from thrift stores but sometimes you really have to search and not everyone has the time for that. I’m a very curvy woman-finding jeans, slacks, or causal pants at a reasonable price in a department store that stocks all sizes is difficult, challenging and discouraging enough. It’s downright impossible in a thrift store. Also some people (not saying anyone here) look down on people if it isn’t the latest fashion. I however once was able to find a very nice rosary at a consignment store for $12. I looked it up online later…new they are $195!
I have bought nothing but Thrift store , (or garage sale) clothes for many years and I get many compliments on what I am wearing. Also we have free Rosaries at our Church. God Bless, Memaw

Read up on Fatima and see for yourself. She actually said it and denying it won’t change her words.If you don’t think certain fashions have become a problem, take a walk along most any beach or just about any street in the US. Watch TV for a day. Go to a movie. Better yet, go to www.wafusa.org and get all the information on Fatima. That’s the World Apostolate of Fatima, USA God Bless, Memaw
You said the same thing to me on another but similar thread. As I responded to you then and I repeat:
  1. I know about the revelations at Fatima;
  2. The Vatican at its site on Fatima has said there were three revelations, none of which refer to fashion;
  3. Kindly, I ask again, show me a Vatican link which states that Our Lady at Fatima said, what you keep saying was said about fashion… Repeatedly saying Our Lady said it, does not make it so.

OH so your worried more about “people like me” judging you, Isn’t that being distracted? How do you know they are being distracted? Isn’t that a bit judgmental? Again, I didn’t bring up the jeans issue, you did. God Bless, Memaw

Sometimes I wear jeans to Sat night Mass and then get picked to substitute for an EMHC that didn’t show. When I am scheduled as an EMHC, I don’t wear jeans. I hardly ever wear them on Sunday…and I go both Sat and Sunday.

First time jeans were mentioned after the OP’s original post. I simply asked you a question. God Bless, Memaw

Go to the World Apostolate website, (www.wafusa.org) they are under the direction of the Vatican. Your not going to believe me so go read up on it yourself!! God Bless, Memaw

Can you say double standard? I agree. It is worth a yuck or two. It never fails that those with opinions of others object to anyone having an opinion about them. Twice on one page! :rotfl:

I guess this error is not just limited to liberals. Seriously folks, read what you guys just wrote. If one wants to hold their right to an opinion of what others do, then consider the application of the Golden Rule. If it bothers you, then you are bothering others.

Which means that you wear a size that is easy to find. Lucky you.

When I walk into a Thrift Store, I walk out with nothing. In fact, I don’t think, in the past 10 years, I have EVER found anything in our local Thrift store to buy.

I must either wear a common size, and everyone else buys it up. Or I wear a size that never comes in.

Like severus68, I would love to see an actual Vatican link that claims what you do about Fatima. 👍

Search it out on the Vatican site yourself. I am not sure just what is on there, I have never been on it. I do know what Our Lady said to the 3 Fatima Children. I have been a member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima .(World Apostolate of Fatima) since the early 60’s. I get their magazine. Maybe you should read more about it too. Every Pope has approved the Fatima message from the beginning. God Bless, Memaw

Can we all agree that the Holy Eucharist is deserving of respect and reverence? Can we also agree that we are not free to judge either the hearts of another in respect to either the reverence they hold in their hearts, or their understanding of the Holy Sacrament?. The latter takes time and there is no better place to learn than at Mass.

Go to the World Apostolate website, (www.wafusa.org) they are under the direction of the Vatican. Your not going to believe me so go read up on it yourself!! God Bless, Memaw
Um, no. They are not under the direction of the Vatican.

In October of 2005 they were given to form. That doesn’t mean that the Vatican goes back and checks everything they say. 🤷

Two things,

Yes, the Pope has approved the message of Fatima. Of course we are not obligated to believe it.

No where I have I seen the Pope approve the message of the Blue Army. Although there is approval for the creation of it.

They are and yes the Vatican studied everything that Our Lady told the Children at Fatima and approved it as “Worthy of Belief”. I believe it was Pope Pius XII that said, “Fatima is the reaffirmation of the Gospels.” Pretty strong words coming from a Pope. I would recommend reading the book by Fr. Andrew Apostoli, " Fatima For Today. You can get it from the WAFUSA web or I am sure Catholic Answers would carry it.God Bless, Memaw

That supposed statement on “fashions” is no where found in the Vatican site. Just hearsay the Church did not take into account.

Actually no. If you will read my post #150 where I apologize for attributing it to you…it was actually the OP’s original post-#1 where jeans were brought up. The reason I reacted to you was because you words that “jeans were not fitting for a Holy Place”…which is your opinion…as is your opinion about what the words of Fatima mean. And yes you are entitled to your opinion. I just disagree with it-as do others…which is also our right.

Can we at least agree on that?

I have been to that site as you asked me the last time. A simple question please - may I have a link to a site which authoritatively says Our Lady’s revelations at Fatima include what you say she said? A Vatican link would be great.

Well I would think the Vatican would be the place to go so why would you not go there. Which Fatima message?

It is NOT just heresay, study up on Fatima. God Bless, Memaw
You have been asserting this so called message from Mary on fashion. The Vatican does say any such thing. So. isn’t it logical that you should prove:

firstly, that there was any such message; and secondly, that the Church says we have to accept such message as dogmatic.

You really need to study up on the Fatima Apparitions. I’m sure you will find it . I have a small leaflet put out by The Blue Army, Imprimatur by Most Rev. George W. Ahr S.T.D. Bishop of Trenton. saying “Certain Fashions will be introduced that will offend Our Lord very much!”; Said by Our Lady in 1917. The very fact that the Pope said that Fatima is “Worthy of Belief,” is enough to tell me it’s authentic.Go argue with the Church!, I will take Our Ladies and the Churches word for it.God Bless, Memaw
I also have a leaflet put out by Marian Helpers Center (with ecclesiastical approval), saying the same thing.
