Does anyone know any sources for how the mass was celebrated durring the middle ages?
I second those two suggestions, and also note that M. Davies’s essay, which I posted a link to above, is basically a summary of Fr. Fortescue’s The Mass: A Study of the Roman Liturgy. I believe that at the time that Davies’s essay was first published, Fr. Fortescue’s book was out of print. (It no longer is.)There are two excellent sources: Fr. Adrian Fortescue’s *The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described *and Fr. Josef A. Jungmann, S.J.'s book The Mass of the Roman Rite. Both contain information about the Mass as celebrated during the Middle Ages.

That is correct. It’s still hard to find Fr. Fortescue’s book. I checked Amazon before making my recommendations and didn’t see it there, so didn’t recommend it.I second those two suggestions, and also note that M.
