Mass marking gay pride is back on

A Mass at St. Cecilia’s Church intended to celebrate gay pride month that sparked controversy and was canceled by the Archdiocese of Boston has been rescheduled for next month, church officials said yesterday.

“See you all on July 10!’’ said Rainbow Ministry president John Kelly, throwing his hands into the air at an alternative service held outside the church last night. An audience of nearly 250 people, from children in baseball uniforms to elderly couples in their Sunday best, applauded.

The Rainbow Ministry of St. Cecilia’s Church will host the Mass at 11 a.m. on that date.

I’m not surprised. I was the one who asked earlier if Catholics could attend a Pride Parade. The reason I asked is because their advertising is very deceptive. Those who push Pride Parades make them sound like something they are not.

I would hope that this congregation is being deceived and that they can be taught differently… maybe I’m being overly naive.
 
I wonder if the holy father includes this is part of the filthy in the Church.

How is he going to get rid of the filfhy in the Church? should he not start by getting rid of those who are bringing the filfhy into the Church?

Yes, because everyone already IN the church is soooo perfect and without sin or fault…:cool:

Jesus said something about keeping sinners and unclean folks away from himself, right? :cool:

I live in the Boston Archdiocese and am curious to see how this will be presented. The fact that Cardinal O’Malley has approved of this is troubling on the surface but I wouldn’t pass judgement just yet. It’s possible that the Cardinal has laid down some strict guidelines about how this Mass is being offered. If the Mass is dedicated to people with same-sex attraction I think it would be vital that the Archdiocese clarify that although people with same-sex attraction are obviously welcome in the Church (as anyone is), they are without exception also called to adhere to the precepts of the Church in terms of remaining chaste (no same-sex relations). The Church can not be ambiguous about this point and this needs to be made crystal clear to those parishoners who attend this church (a sizeable amount are reportedly gay). I do not think it would be wise to call this a “Pride” Mass as this label has a clear connotation of positions that run contrary to the Church’s position on this matter. As many faithful Catholics know, the Church has a ministry called Courage that helps spiritually support those with same-sex attraction while calling them to chastity. Hopefully this ministry will be emphasized and not the dissident group “Dignity” which openly advocates that the Church should sanction and support those in same-sex relationships (engaging in unnatural sexual activity) and same-sex marriage. If anyone has anymore information on this story I’d be anxious to hear an update. Pray that the Cardinal will not capitulate to the immoral ways of most gay activists groups (including all who hold Gay Pride parades which themselves are often offensive and scandalous)!

I expect this is the case. The cardinal came down hard on the parish just recently, and the presence of the auxiliary bishop at that Sunday’s Masses, as well as at the more recent unofficial prayer service, suggests that the the parish is being closely scrutinized.

i hope and pray that its just a mass welcoming gays to the Church but also it points out homosexuality is a mortal sin

It was confirmation, that’s why the bishop was there.

CountrySteve: You’re probably aware, but I’ll just post it to try and dispell confusion for others: homosexuality, in and of itself, is not a sin, but it is a disordered attraction. Acting upon homosexual inclinations, on the other hand, is a grave matter.

“The philosophical and political agenda of Gay Pride in relation to marriage and sexual morality is incompatible with the Church’s teachings. For that reason, Father Unni rescheduled a Mass of welcome for all his parishioners to a time that would not associate the Mass with the Gay Pride agenda.” So this is not a gay pride Mass, according to the cardinal.

But how will the media present it?

He was welcoming of sinners. Didn’t he accompany Mary Magdalene to an Adultery Pride parade?
 
I’m sure similar things happen in Catholic churches all over the country. Look up Most Holy Redeemer in San Francisco.
