Okay…so Catholic Campus Ministry at my College is planning on having a Mass of Anticipation for Immaculate Conception on Friday at 2:30pm.
I know that Vigil Masses on Saturday are technically supposed to be after sunset (right?) and the earliest I’ve ever seen is 4pm.
Now, in LOTH there is evening prayer I of a solemnity the ‘night before’ the solemnity. But day prayer is still for the normal day, not the next day’s solemnity. So Mid-Afternoon Prayer would be prayed at 3:00pm (ish) for Friday and then Evening Prayer I for the Solemnity. How can there be a Mass of Anticipation before Mid-Afternoon Prayer would be typically prayed?
Is there some sort of standard for how early is too early for a Mass of Anticipation?
Thanks!
