I still really don’t like it.

The biggest problem being the music itself, but it also has a responsorial Gloria, which I have still not seen documentation that this is legit.

I still don’t understand what is so great about this. And the preface dialogue and preface is just lame, and should not be accompanied!

Aw, I’m sorry. 😦 Is it a responsorial? We sing all of it at my parish.

Maybe not technically, but I mean that there is a “refrain” with “verses”, something I’ve not seen to be allowed.

Well I hope it’s allowed because it’s the only version of Gloria I like for the OF Mass 😦

WHOA!!! As I listen through this, they have the whole Eucharistic prayer accompanied!!! And the priest’s part sounds terrible too…

I have even less respect for Haugen now. What part of RS 53 and GIRM 32 does he not understand?!?! Then again, how would he know, he’s not even catholic.:mad::mad:

Is there a better version of Gloria though? I mean I love chanting but our parish doesn’t do that.

Sorry, but I don’t believe it is.

Try something like the one from A New Mass For Congregations. I’m sure there are other good ones too, in addition to chanted ones.

The Alleluia, Sanctus, the Memorial Acclamation (When we eat this bread) and the Amen from the Celtic Mass are very singable. At our parish, we say the Gloria and use the Jubilate Deo Angus Dei.

Beautiful! Simple, like the original, and easy to sing. Hope (someday) to hear the Celebrant sing the Canon like this…closest thing to the original Gregorian Chant you might find…in a modern sort of version. The Great AMEN is striking!

Thanks. I have to send this around.

No problem! I was sad that I wouldn’t hear this melody when the new translation came out but then today learned this was coming out!

Hmmm. Maybe I just don’t like the Celtic Mass songs that much then. Although I do love the Celtic Alleluia 😃

Did someone actually get on Haugen about the liberties with the Lamb of God? I noticed he doesn’t start it with “Jesus, Lamb of God” anymore. Also, the final “Grant us peace” is not “Grant us your peace.”

sigh - with how much it’s used in parishes around the world, it probably will be hard for the congregations to get used to not singing “Jesus, Lamb of God” and not “Grant us your peace.”
