Don’t get me wrong- I’m really against liturgical abuse and for making the Mass the most reverent. But is it really that big of deal to say “Jesus, Lamb of God” and “Grant us your peace.”? Again, I’m not trying to argue, the new text is better, but I didn’t see it as an abuse.

With all due respect, what the MoC does with the eucharistic prayer is very wrong, and besides being illicit, and I find it quite disgraceful on a musical level, especially the way the consecration was written. Certainly not fitting for the most important words ever spoken.

However, the missal has notation for those who wish to sing the Canon.

And actually, I might point out that the “original gregorian chants” may still be sung at Mass.

I don’t like Haugen’s stuff either, but there’s a lot of non-Catholics who have written stuff over the years.

Our priest doesn’t sing the Consecration provided by the Mass of Creation. So I’m fine there. 👍

As long as something is in compliance with the rubrics, I don’t see a problem with non Catholics writing the music. I just don’t see why they would want to.

This kind of reminds me of a video on YouTube of a Children’s Christmas Eve Mass where they had all the children and parents sitting on the sanctuary floor whilst the priest sang the whole Eucharistic Prayer provided from Mass of Creation. Needless to say, the video ended up being slammed by several people, and the video I think ended up being pulled.

Quite an event to watch!

Although, what more would you expect from Marty Haugen?
 
Sadly, this is more of the same. Responsorial Glorias should not be happening. The text was meant to be sung/chanted straight-through.

There is also an excsical essive amount of musical introduction to the Alleluia and the other parts of the Mass.

The ICEL chants sound so much better.

I just don’t see the big deal with repeating “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.” At worst, we ponder that a little more. I love the chants too but sadly my parish doesn’t do those so this is the best option. In my opinion, at least. I’m still learning fully about proper liturgical practices so forgive me if I’m wrong. 🙂

EP II? Luckily my priest just goes by the rubrics. We only use Mass of Creation for Gloria, Sanctus, Memorial Acclamation, Great Amen, and SOMETIMES “Lamb of God”. 🤷
 
Like the original, the only part I like is the Great Amen.

Everything else is horrible.
