I have read that people are saying there is no mass on Good Friday, yet my parish is celebrating mass today, more than once. Can anyone explain this?
The Good Friday Liturgy is not technically a “mass,” since there is no consecration and communion is distributed from previously consecrated hosts.
The liturgical celebrations on Good Friday are not “masses”. To be a Mass, there must be a consecration. But any hosts distributed on Good Friday were already consecrated (usually at the Mass on Holy Thursday). No consecration means no Mass.I have read that people are saying there is no mass on Good Friday, yet my parish is celebrating mass today, more than once. Can anyone explain this?
