Mass Vietnamese protest against government church crackdown [CNAU]

All those protesting are certainly showing courage for standing up to their oppressors in uniform.

May God protect and strengthen the former during this time and change the hearts of the latter.
 
The Communist government of Vietnam has repressed the Church ever since taking over. Many Catholics fled Vietnam with the boat people. A priest of our diocese who had been a seminarian in Vietnam tried to escape the country after the Communist government shut down the seminaries. He was caught and imprisoned the first time. The second time he escaped. Now he is a priest in our diocese, having completed the seminary in the U.S. He has been back to Vietnam to visit relatives several times. Each time, he is harassed and made to pay bribes, and prohibited from celebrating Mass.
