No, it wouldn’t. If it were far more complex aliens with reason and moral understandings, I’ll even **bet **they have some sort of Christianity going around in their home planet.

You have to make something clear for us: are you a Christian that accepts Jesus as your Saviour and the Bible as the Word of God? (I’m sounding like some Protestants now…)

If you do, then I recommend you make peace with the Bible first, because it clearly states HOW special we are. Jesus didn’t die to save dogs, monkeys, cats or birds from sin.

We are animals, but much more than them at the same time. Just as Jesus is man, but much more than us at the same time.
lol you are! Yes I accept that Jesus died for our sins. I accept him as part of the divine trinity and I accept the bible as man’s interpretation of messages. I find that my dogs are much more charitable than many humans I know.

You appear to accept just so much of the faith as not to cramp your style! For then there comes a point when you switch to follow the guidance of animals. You have told us you love the Church, for it has brought you to God. Why not let her bring you the rest of the way to Him?

My intellectual curiosity does not go away because the Church tells me. I have researched extensively about history, cultural context, and scientific advancements. We have so much knowledge about psychology, sexology, sociology, biology, etc, that it would be a crime to ignore them. I think you guys are twisted my examples of animals.I don’t ask my dog for moral guidance lol but I do notice how empathic she is with people in sadness. I believe a Church of men will always get some things wrong and I am happy to debate said things! Thankfully we don’t leave in a age where my thoughts would get me house arrested. God gave us a wonderful brain and I love using it.

Scientific advancements are not ignored. It is merely that they do not bear on, or dictate change to, the moral teachings surrounding marriage and sexuality.

By all means be curious, study widely. Read Veritatis Splendor, Humanae Vitae and Theology of the Body and other great writing the Church offers to you. But in the end, if you cannot accept the Church as a sure guide to the path to God, then to espouse love for her is a lie. She exists for no other reason than to provide that sure path.

I disagree with my mother all time yet I assure you i still love her.

I didn’t. In fact, The first example I gave that animals have no morality was pertaining to a good act - monkey gives banana to other monkey. Monkey now has friend to defend territory!

I also said that, good action or bad action does NOT equal good moral or bad moral. Animals are Amoral, meaning = NO morality; no good morality, no bad morality, no morality.

Of course some stories were historic, while others were illustrative. However, what ALL of them have in common? Teaching something.

ALL of them are there to teach us something. So, even if something is positively implausible, the teaching they transmit is Truth.

So, yeah, maybe God didn’t create the world in 7 days, and we probably did evolve from the monkeys. However, He did use that story to pass the following teachings:
  1. God created everything; (Genesis 1:1-31)
  2. God made men in His image (Genesis 1:26-27);
  3. God made animals to serve humans (genesis 1:26).
Just because it didn’t happen the way the Bible says it happened, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen for the purpose the Bible says it happened.

Mostly spiders? What about female dogs eating their puppies? A victorious lion eating the lion cubs of the lion he just defeated (just so the lionesses of the pride can copulate again)? Many chimps killing baby chimps for the same reason as the lion?

It is, indeed, how God programmed them. It is also true that, what they do is not a bad thing. It is a neutral thing, not good nor bad, simply because they lack MORALS.

God made US is His image, and animals to serve us. If life is enough to be in His image, then we should consider plants as moral beings, bacteria, viruses…
Dogs also eat their and other’s feces. Should we do that. I think there is a fetish related to that or something. Someone exploring their body I guess.

Without bees we could not live. We depend on them so much. Eventually we may destroy ourselves because we are destroying them.
We are? I’ve heard of migrations and plagues. But I didn’t know we were killing bees. I did destroy a yellow jacket’s nest once though.

I don’t think God creating everything around us. I think we are special to him, but I don’t think we are the center of the universe. I have a question. If alien life is found(regardless if its a bacteria or intelligent life) would that shake your faith.
Well, that’s a discussion for the philosophy and main apologetics forum.

Edit: Oops, this thread moved a lot since I last opened it.

You say that as if we and the Church are against that.

Sexology is very, very new. It and Psychology I would doubt speaking in philosophic terms quite fit the philosophic definition of a science, scientific method. Psychology has changed much over time. Homosexuality was once considered a disorder. It was removed from the DSM and it was yes quite politically motivated.

I will say this from my experience. In grace there is communication with God. All kinds of information hits you and you begin to for a proper conscious. After masturbation this communication most definitely ceases.

Very true. The removal from the DSM reflects a pragmatic stance about the (lack of) demand for treatment, not to mention the lack of a treatment, and, unlike (say) pedophilia - the lack of a direct threat to anyone. * Important to note is that it was not a logical consequence of some discovery about the etiology or some conclusion that SSA is as unremarkable as brown hair. Science continues to explore the cause of SSA (somewhat cautiously in view of the ‘sensitivities’) and were that to be understood, would no doubt look to understand whether the condition is preventable or treatable.*

Okay this suggests that you are a very young “know it all”! That explains why your arguments are so flippant and trite. I was going to tell you to “grow up” but I guess you just need to grow up. Really, as you get older, you will see that the elders of the Church make true sense. But right now, you know everything!😃

Ha! I would never this that at the age of 26 I know everything. In fact, it is my ability to to critically consider multiple factors that gets me in trouble with the Church, but like a good scholar I am always open to being wrong.🙂

Psychology is not dogmatic. Once a consensus of studies arise that prove its old position to be wrong, it must change its stance and that is wonderful. Now I will grant you that the social sciences are in their infancy but psychology as a field has matured very rapidly and with its focus on cognitive issues/ biology, it has become a great scientific force.

Circular reasoning. If a consensus of studies arise that * prove a position wrong* that philosophy is not scientific. Scientific method requires ALL studies ALWAYS get the same results. Or you’re not dealing with a science. But indeed another philosophic doctrine. That doesn’t mean there’s not some validity. But it’s not science.

Hum. How is pedophilia, which is simply another sexual attraction, a direct threat? How is bestiality another attraction, a direct threat? Because it’s politically correct? That’s sexology. Who cares what someone’s sexual attraction is? None of these “attractions” have anything to do with ACTIONS? I happen to be attracted to women. Am I a direct threat? I would hope not. A sexual attraction does not automatically imply an ACTION. Unless your a woman who happens to be on the leftist fence. This is very political.
