Back in the very early days of CAF a teenager pointed that out.I think the primary scriptural evidence that Mary remained a virgin is her response when Gabriel told her she was going to have a child.
A woman planning on having normal relations would have assumed she would get pregnant when she and Joseph moved in together.
Gabriel: You will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and you will call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.
Mary: Oh, Joseph will be so pleased . . .
