Numbe 31:3 And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
Numbe 31:4 Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
Numbe 31:5 So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
Here some means 12 THOUSAND, or by which God means a representative of all of Israel. I don’t know this 3-9 that you speak of as “some”.
In the passage of Matthew, Jesus is sending a representative of all his church for slaughter, and by their blood will their enemies be condemned to hell – the very enemies who deny they will kill the prophets who follow Jesus. By their own words will they be tried on the day of Judgement for they killed the prophets just as their fathers did.
