Sure! Thanks for the help!👍 I really learned a lot:) I will have this info printed and studied.
I am glad that it helped. This is precisely why the Catholic Church uses Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture, and the Magisterium (teaching authority of the Church) together. Once you try to use them separately, it all falls apart. This is how the Lord designed His Church. That is why it is the oldest organization on earth. Praise God!

Brothers and sisters, the so called Sola Scriptura is a false doctrine! I recently had the opportunity to prove its falseness while dialoguing with a Full Gospel preacher.
After bombarding me with Bible verses to prove Sola Scriptura I asked him to please allow me to ask him a few “true-or-false” questions. Here they are:
  1. There were true Christians before the four Gospels were written – true or false?
  2. There were true Christians in Rome before Paul wrote Romans – true or false?
  3. There were true Christians in Ephesus before Paul wrote Ephesians – true or false?
  4. There were true Christians in Philippi before Paul wrote Philippians – true or false?
  5. In short, true Christianity existed before the Bible – true or false?
  6. On what grounds, then, do you claim that true Christianity cannot exist without the Bible if it existed before the Bible?
After reluctantly answering “true” to the first five questions, the Full Gospel preacher did not have a clear answer to the sixth.

Great questions! The canon of scripture was not finalized for almost 350 years. I ask if all those Christians were condemned due to not having a “bible”. I also ask if Jesus founded a Church, or a bible. Being asked where the bible taught sola scriptura is what started Scott Hahn on his journey home.

Thank you for your insight because it made me think. We have a lot of work to do in the Catholic Church. However, things are getting better. Just look at how lay Catholics are starting to step up and take more responsibility for the health of the church. I think for a long time Protestants intimidated us with their specificity in quoting their favorite scripture lines. Catholics know the bible better now although we’re not taught to quote chapter and verse. I’m proud of the way we are taught to love the bible through the ancient practice of readings in the mass, old, new and gospel. I’m also proud of the fact that we read the whole bible and don’t pull things out of context. There isn’t anything we have to skip over or ignore. Everything fits. We leave nothing out.

Placido,
We need more apologists like you. I hope to join the ranks.
