Dear Brothers and Sisters,
If you’ve never read or pondered the “Act of Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary” written by St. Louis de Montfort, perhaps you’d like to read and ponder it more today. You can read it HERE in it’s entirety, but today we are pondering the third and fourth paragraphs:
St Louis reminds us that we have not been faithful to our Baptismal promises. We have sinned, unlike Mary our Mother we were not conceived without sin, and so we were born with the stain of original sin and the propensity to sin again.
Baptism cleansed us of original sin, but we still retain the consequences of a darkened intellect and a weakened will. We battle these consequences throughout life, and Jesus knowing the battle we would wage, gave us the precious gift of Mary to be both Mother and Model for the Church. She is our Mediatrix, the one who intercedes and mediates between us and Jesus – Whether we realize it or not!
Our propensity toward self-love and pride is stronger than most of us will admit even to ourselves. We can be as pompous as the Pharisee who prayed: “I thank you Lord that I am not like the rest…”
Jesus gives us Mary, most humble who stands at the foot of His Cross and Listens to Him say: “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” Mary not only listens but she does the Truth she hears. Mary prays with Jesus for their union is unique, and efficacious.
Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us that we may “Behold” you as our Mother and Model.
Intercede for me with your Son as He intercedes with the Father for me, that I may ask and receive true contrition for my sins, pardon for them and the acquisition of and preservation of the wisdom given me in Baptism.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. May your love cleanse us anew. At our Baptism, you came to us and we were made “Temples of the Holy Spirit”. Father, Son and Holy Spirit came to dwell in us with the supernatual gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity, The gifts if the Holy Spirt were infused into our souls.…But, alas! Ungrateful and faithless as I have been, I have not kept the promises which I made so solemnly to Thee in my Baptism; I have not fulfilled my obligations; I do not deserve to be called Thy child, nor yet Thy slave; and as there is nothing in me which does not merit Thine anger and Thy repulse, I dare not come by myself before Thy most holy and august Majesty.
It is on this account that I have recourse to the intercession of Thy most holy Mother, whom Thou hast given me for a mediatrix with Thee. It is through her that I hope to obtain of Thee contrition, the pardon of my sins, and the acquisition and preservation of wisdom.
