Dear Brothers and Sisters,

If you’ve never read or pondered the “Act of Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary” written by St. Louis de Montfort, perhaps you’d like to read and ponder it more today. You can read it HERE in it’s entirety, but today we are pondering the third and fourth paragraphs:
…But, alas! Ungrateful and faithless as I have been, I have not kept the promises which I made so solemnly to Thee in my Baptism; I have not fulfilled my obligations; I do not deserve to be called Thy child, nor yet Thy slave; and as there is nothing in me which does not merit Thine anger and Thy repulse, I dare not come by myself before Thy most holy and august Majesty.

It is on this account that I have recourse to the intercession of Thy most holy Mother, whom Thou hast given me for a mediatrix with Thee. It is through her that I hope to obtain of Thee contrition, the pardon of my sins, and the acquisition and preservation of wisdom.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. May your love cleanse us anew. At our Baptism, you came to us and we were made “Temples of the Holy Spirit”. Father, Son and Holy Spirit came to dwell in us with the supernatual gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity, The gifts if the Holy Spirt were infused into our souls.

St Louis reminds us that we have not been faithful to our Baptismal promises. We have sinned, unlike Mary our Mother we were not conceived without sin, and so we were born with the stain of original sin and the propensity to sin again.

Baptism cleansed us of original sin, but we still retain the consequences of a darkened intellect and a weakened will. We battle these consequences throughout life, and Jesus knowing the battle we would wage, gave us the precious gift of Mary to be both Mother and Model for the Church. She is our Mediatrix, the one who intercedes and mediates between us and Jesus – Whether we realize it or not!

Our propensity toward self-love and pride is stronger than most of us will admit even to ourselves. We can be as pompous as the Pharisee who prayed: “I thank you Lord that I am not like the rest…”

Jesus gives us Mary, most humble who stands at the foot of His Cross and Listens to Him say: “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” Mary not only listens but she does the Truth she hears. Mary prays with Jesus for their union is unique, and efficacious.

Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us that we may “Behold” you as our Mother and Model.

Intercede for me with your Son as He intercedes with the Father for me, that I may ask and receive true contrition for my sins, pardon for them and the acquisition of and preservation of the wisdom given me in Baptism.

Dear patricius,

Thanks again for your “ever-faithful heart” and for your love of Jesus through Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary. My husband and I participated in the “live-streamed” Mass at EWTN this morning, and it was a particular blessing not only to stand with Mary at the foot of the Cross “spiritually” at the Consecration of the Mass, offering myself with her and with Jesus, and then to receive Jesus in His Resurrected Body in Spiritual Communion – but also I was especially blessed hearing the Choir sing a Latin Hymn I’d not heard in a long time: “Adoremus Te”. The hymn contains the words we often hear at the Stations of the Cross: “We adore Thee O Christ and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross, Thou has redeemed the world.”

How precious these days are: as we approach the liturgies of Jesus’ Passion, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, Pentecost and Trinity Sunday – with Mary! Please let us continue to pray for one another and for all those in most need of God’s Mercy in union with Jesus, through Mary.

Some days, the Virgin Mary seems not hidden but veiled… This is the surest sign that she is there, a silent but attentive mother taking care of her child. Can we find her even in the depths of the overwhelming sadness that we experience at times?

The more we are crushed by a cross, the more Mary shows us that she is a mother. The darker the night, the more her presence shines. As the Virgin of Holy Saturday, she doesn’t need our words to understand us. A simple glance, a single movement of the heart, is enough for her to notice. In the light of God she can detect the slightest aspiration towards conversion and encourage it. Thanks to her, the smallest gesture or thought can bring about the birth of Christ in us. No drama or crisis can counter her maternal power.

On the contrary, it seems that, through her, God has allowed all chaos to be transformed into a gestation of life. When we are deeply miserable, we may be closer to her than ever. Is everything collapsing around you? Now is the time to turn to God. It is through Mary that we can find Him, because it is from her that He becomes weak so as to share our own weakness, in everything except sin. Mary is the Mother of Mercy. She is not scandalized by our sins—she lets her heart be torn open to bring us more life.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Dear hazcompat,

Thanks for the words from Rt. Rev. Louis Sankale Bishop Emeritus of Nice, France 2005 - 13.

Mary standing at the foot of Jesus’ cross shows us – to use the Bishop’s words:
“a silent but attentive mother taking care of her child.”
How does she take care of her child Jesus? She listens to Jesus and hears Him praying to His Father to forgive those who have rejected Him and those who nailed Him to His Cross, and she prays with Him. Mary does the Truth she hears. and in so doing she comforts Jesus in His agony, and she continues to care for all her children by her example and her prayers for all the children Jesus has given her.

Dear Stephie and Wm777,

Thank you both for your “faith-full hearts” and for your love of Jesus and Mary. It is a blessing for us to receive the words of wisdom God gave to St. Louis de Montfort. St. Louis learned from Jesus to “Behold” Mary not only as Mother but also as “Refuge of sinners”, and as “Mediatrix” with Jesus; and Mary is the to whom all of us can go with hope to obtain from Jesus true contrition for our sins, and the acquisition and preservation of Wisdom.

Perhaps there is less wisdom and more sadness in our world today because so many have not received the gift of Mary – It has been offered but not received. May God forgive us our neglect of His Gift. Let us fly to her protection and beg God’s help us to bring others to know her and love her as Jesus does!
