No evidence of the apostasy, someone claimed — the apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 speaks of the soon to come apostasy.

Regarding the sacred of the temple and garments, it is apparent to some that everything has to disclosed. No it should not in light of questions asked here by people here, who once ready and prepared, can certainly know.

In light of everyone’s efforts to try to convince me my church is false and unneccessary, you are sadly failing and will continue to fail.

John chapter 6 speaks of an apostasy of those disciples that could not bare the Lord’s words that they must eat his body and drink his blood. Is this the apostasized Christians Mormons follow?

The Lord asked, “Doth this scandalize you?”

Oh, I see.

Can you show me in the New Testament where Christ taught the secrecy of the temple and garments and how it was to be kept secret until someone was ready to know?

No one is trying to convince you of anything. Are you up to something to make you feel guilty and accuse us of such?

We are only asking questions, as you’ve repeatedly told us to do and that website you keep pushing does not address the above issues anywhere. Can you please enlighten us?

I haven’t said your church is false and unnecessary. All I’ve done is ask you two questions:
  1. Do Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are Brothers?
  2. Do Momons withhold some Doctrines from potential converts until they are baptized into the Momon Faith?
From watching the way you dodge these questions I suspect the answer is yes. There are absolutely no doctrines the Catholic Church holds that I’m not willing to share with anybody else. Why the reticence on your part and sharing Mormon doctrines?

The first question — Catholics have no belief in the pre existance so that question can only be answered if you.

Second question — nothing is withheld from any member of the church.

Second question — nothing is withheld from any member of the church.
The mormon church doesn’t withhold anything from its “members”, but it does withhold information from those thinking about joining, because they aren’t mormon. Is that corrrect?

For example non mormons parents are excluded from their mormon children’s weddings if they are in the temple, etc. etc.

Catholics believe that God has always been God and has always existed. Jesus, as God the Son - one in being with the Father, has always existed. He is co-eternal with the Father. The angel Lucifer, like everything else, was created by Jesus and for Jesus. He later rebelled against God and became the devil. Jesus is God, Lucifer is merely a creature. They are not brothers.

A simple and direct Catholic answer. Why can’t Mormons ever give simple and direct answers?
Second question — nothing is withheld from any member of the church.
Apparently you have not yet taken out your endowment in the temple. You will find that a great deal has been withheld from you. I also suspect that you have been taught a sanitized, whitewashed version of Mormonism. It is obvious that there is a great deal of early LDS doctrine and history that you have never been taught. Perhaps we will have the privilege of enlightening you on those subjects.

Paul (a former Mormon)

Your answer to question one contradicts your answer to question two, so I ask you again
  1. Do Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are Brothers?
  2. How can you say nothing is withheld when you refuse to answer question one?
It doesn’t matter what Catholics believe. I’m asking you what you believe,

I am a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and am wondering is it possible to have a indifference to my church instead of spreading inaccurate statements on the forums, for example.

Catholics and other churches do not like when inaccurate statements are made and yet it appear to say things about my church which are wrong is ok.

If I had questions about the Methodist church, I would ask a Methodist, not someone who is a enemy or not a member.

So if you have questions, why do you not ask a member, such as myself, or refer to www.mormon.org?
thecourt,

One of the major complaints that I have about Mormonism is that the LDS church is not forthcoming about its doctrines. It purposefully obscures the truth of its beliefs on sites like the ones you’ve posted. That’s why people like me feel a need to share with others what Mormonism is all about so that people are at least in a place to make an accurate assessment of it.

If you were going to buy a car, would you completely trust the salesmen? Of course not, you’d listen to critics of the car too. How much more so should you when it comes to learning about a religious system.

I should also add that your post seems to assume that there is inherent worth in Mormonism- that is a debatable point. The reality is that Mormonism seeks to destroy the faith of everyone else it encounters. Accordingly, it teaches that Catholics and Protestants alike are the product of a great apostasy and that Mormons alone have the fullness of the gospel and authority necessary to perform ordinances. How nice is that?

Criticize my faith — your validate my point about no respect for others faith – I will always have issues with Catholicism, nonetheless I will not tell you to leave or disrespect it.

Your bias against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its members are clear.

When a response is given for a question, it is not good enough, and yet I have to receive a concise answer about those who must become Catholics or else – I want a detailed discourse as I why I should dare consider Catholicism, no brief answers acceptable.

You never responded to the question do Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers. It would seem that very simple question to answer- they either do or they don’t.

Where is my reply regarding Catholicism understanding of the pre existance before I respond to any question about Jesus and Satan?

estesbob, is this really true? I mean all kidding aside, Do they really believe Jesus and satan are brothers? How could anyone believe this?

Of course I dont beleive it. BUT it is Mormon doctrine.

It is clear and apparent that you want us to sit down and just listen to you:hmmm: right? Do not give us the persecuted victim approach. Your agenda has been revealed. Anytime we ask a question out of your jurisdiction it becomes uncharitable to you and has completely disrespected your church. Can we respect our differences in beliefs and answer the questions without the milk before meat bit:yawn::sleep:

I do not disrespect any faith, Catholicism or otherwise.

All the posts read validate your love for Catholicism, yet heaven forbid anyone here say a bad word about Catholicism.

Catholicism and I will never be on the same page.
You seem to very much like this phrase:
Catholicism and I will never be on the same page.

Is this your “mantra”? You came here to tell us your mantra? How about instead we clarifiy WHY you would say this?

You will never be on the “same page” as the Church because you’re never in the “same book” as the Church. 🙂

Are you interested in stating the dogmas of your church, and responding to our objections to them? When we ask you to explain what we’ve heard are the dogmas of your church, and you respond that we’re only attacking you instead of simply explaining how you see what we say as being attacks, you fail to do your job as an evangelist (a teller of the good news).

Remember why you’re here. We’re all here to learn about each other, and to either agree to agree or agree to disagree, but always to agree that what the other says is the truth as they see it.

Where is my reply regarding Catholicism understanding of the pre existance before I respond to any question about Jesus and Satan?
What is this “pre-existence” thing?

My friend, thecourt, please tell us about “the pre-existence” so that you can then explain how Jesus and Satan are siblings.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge in this matter.

Of course I dont beleive it. BUT it is Mormon doctrine.
No i understand you dont believe it, What i am asking is do THEY really believe that. What you are saying is true then, that really is Mormon doctrine?

Okay the Court I am asking you then, Is estesbob telling the truth or is he telling a lie about your faith? You answer me. Now what do you what to know about pre-existance is that what you are asking? I dont understand your question but if I know the correct answer I will try to answer it for you.

So if you have questions, why do you not ask a member, such as myself, or refer to www.mormon.org?
thecourt is an example of a new kind of Mormon missionary called a “cyber missionary”. The Mormon leadership has instructed their followers to go to forums like this one and try to direct people to mormon.org (a deceptive, sanitized version of Mormonism) so that “the spirit can work on them outside the noise and confusion of non-LDS forums”.

We’re going to see a lot of this until the LDS leadership figures out that it will not result in any converts and will only serve to further expose the parts of Mormonism they don’t want you to know about.
