Again, I am amazed that this post is still alive. I was blowing off some steam (almost) 3 months ago.
Things have really turned around for me…
I am really enjoying the Catholic Church (Latin Rite). Ok much more than “enjoying”. I feel energized and blessed by the grace from the sacraments and am on much more stable theological ground. I am sad that I was away for so long (7 years).
It’s nice to be able to read the bible and not have to mental gymnastics to make the scripture fit doctrine…
Rather than going to various Methodist websites and see debates on what each person believes the Bible is saying and trying to convince others so that at the 4 year convention they change the church doctrine to make it fit their personal beliefs… it’s great to be able to say that “this is what the church teaches, and always taught this”.
It is much more difficult to be a Catholic than it was as a Protestant. The standard of moral living is much higher. However, the Catholic Church is able to balance personal Holiness with social responsibility and a call to love others.

Welcome home!

The idea is about your realtionship with God not with man. Many in my town have “left” the Church because of “fellowship”…they wanted to socialize. I find that very shallow. It is one facet of church but not “the” most important.

Good luck and God bless…listen quietly and HE will lead you…
I agree with you. The main focus is Jesus and the Truth and fellowship is secondary
