I really need your prayers. Some terrible stuff is going on.

To be honest, I am not comfortable going into it here, because I know that this site can be a real mixed bag of sorts, and I really need to make sure that anyone who knows about it, is someone kind and gentle enough for me to trust with it. I wouldn’t mind talking about it via PM with the right person(s).

The abbreviated version, for anyone who would be so kind as to pray about it for me, is that my faith is really on the rocks. I am losing my ability to believe and persevere. Other religions are starting to seem appealing. I have fallen back into some things in which I used to partake, that the Church considers mortal sin. All this is despite my constant efforts to obey the Church, pray the Rosary, attend Mass, etc., and despite all my desperate prayers for help and grace. I feel like I am being pulled into drowning by some horrible undercurrent.

Complicating things even further is that I have a serious mental illness that alters my ability to think rationally at times. As if this weren’t enough, I cannot tolerate the only medication that has ever treated it properly.

Please pray for me. I fear that I will end up an unwilling apostate if something truly miraculous doesn’t come along and stop this.

Praying for you. I heard something interesting the other day from Fr Corapi - to even entertain thoughts of ANY mortal sin, let alone leaving the faith or joining another - is like picking up a poisonous snake and petting it and playing with it. There’s no undercurrent here, just your decision to hang around that snake.

Do instead as you would with that poisonous snake - throw it as far away from you as you can and RUN, don’t walk, away from it. Whoever or wherever these temptations are coming from, and they’re usually from predictable places and situations - flee from 'em. Saving your soul is more important than being nice or polite.

Faith in God can never change whichever way you wish to practice it. For me the Catholic way of life/family works very well and I believe it’s a very beautiful thing to be a part of. Do not lose it. I can go anywhere in the world and find a catholic church and brothers/sisters.

I pray for your illness and your temptation to sin. I am trying to overcome a sin myself, I don’t think it’s mortal, but I think I know why you can’t stop yourself. You need someone to support you through this.

Just remember, changing the church you go to is not going to fix things. The problems are within, if you want to deal with them, look inside, not outside. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

Ronnette,
I will be praying for you. I am a recent convert to Catholicism, and I can tell you after searching the other christian religions… THIS IS THE TRUE CHURCH!

We all sin and come short of the Glory of God.

Something that has really helped me is to be on this site and stay in the “Prayer Intentions” section and the “First Timers Meet and Greet”. I get to pray for others and their needs. It will really make you feel better about your own situations.

I’m praying!
Pam

Praying for you. I doubt that there are any of us who do not need prayers to overcome doubt and temptations:gopray:

Praying for you. Asking St. Dymphna to help you overcome your mental problems.

Praying

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Will keep you in prayer with St. Dymphna, patron of those who suffer mental problems. There is a Catholic Yahoo Group for sufferers of Bipolar and also mental illness in general:
health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bipolar_Catholic/
The Group claims to be very strictly Catholic and faithful to the Magisterium - I have only just joined and mainly to discern the Group…if you have problems with thinking rationally your moral culpability is reduced and may even be eliminated altogether.

I will pray for you and your intentions at Mass, in my daily prayers, and before the Blessed Sacrament.
