All saints are sinners except Mary who never sinned. But the saints all repented of their sins.St. Paul genocided Christians… there’s hundreds of thousands of examples of saints were were sinners
We have a situation in the Archdiocese of Detroit like that. If clergy speak up, they face two possibilities: being sent to a parish headed by a very liberal monsignor who ‘trains’ young priests, or being sent to a parish in the middle of nowhere. They face a dilemma: if they speak up, they will be removed to a place where they can no longer work to improve things.
In the past people were far more cautious about accepting someone’s uncorroborated facts. And inevitably sometimes they talk about their experiences to people who are also bloggers.
If you are deeply interested in the church and get involved, you will sooner or later meet some people who are close to the higher workings of the church.
Not necessarily. He’s now an orthodox but he’s still a well know religious affairs writerIf you were an honest Church leader who wanted to “tell the truth” wouldn’t you be more likely to go to a current Catholic?
You might be concerned of the current Catholic’s honesty. If you were an honest Church leader who wanted to “tell the truth” wouldn’t you be more likely to go to a current Catholic?
Yes, and as far as I’m concerned, he has no business and no credibility commenting. Angry ex-Catholics, phooey. If they wanted to have a say they could stay on board. I think more of Jack Chick than I do of Rod Dreher who makes his money bashing Catholics.I agree Dreher is deeply interested in writing about the Catholic Church but Dreher isn’t in the Church. He left it.
Because God isn’t a radio that one dials into to hear the latest news. Why didn’t God tell the Pope(s) about the widespread problems in the priesthood?
You asked, I answered. God isn’t a news outlet. We humans find things on our own, we’re fooled by things, we make decisions. Popes are just as human as the rest of us.Latest news? The widespread abuse went on for decades.
The Cure of Ars was in “nowhere.” Just saying…We have a situation in the Archdiocese of Detroit like that. If clergy speak up, they face two possibilities: being sent to a parish headed by a very liberal monsignor who ‘trains’ young priests, or being sent to a parish in the middle of nowhere.
