St. Paul genocided Christians… there’s hundreds of thousands of examples of saints were were sinners

All saints are sinners except Mary who never sinned. But the saints all repented of their sins.

That’s not being fair to JimG. Nobody is saying that every single person in the Vatican is corrupt, only that there are a great many in the hierarchy who are. That means that there are plenty who are not.

They face a dilemma: if they speak up, they will be removed to a place where they can no longer work to improve things. But if they keep silent they become complicit.

And inevitably sometimes they talk about their experiences to people who are also bloggers.

If you are deeply interested in the church and get involved, you will sooner or later meet some people who are close to the higher workings of the church.

Ok then it’s just a grammar point. You meant “many saints had been the worst sinners”

We have a situation in the Archdiocese of Detroit like that. If clergy speak up, they face two possibilities: being sent to a parish headed by a very liberal monsignor who ‘trains’ young priests, or being sent to a parish in the middle of nowhere.

In the past people were far more cautious about accepting someone’s uncorroborated facts.

What background or training does the writer have? What evidence is there that he has direct access to the kinds of people such as the source? Did an editor with a track record of responsibility review the anonymous information as to credibility?

In today’s gullible era, people don’t bother with critical thinking. The Media has trained them to think along certain lines. If a blogger (no editor anymore) follows the expected pattern, they get read and believed.

If they write about the Catholic Church a lot, they get promoted now as “Respected”. But why should writing very frequently make him, or you and me, more credible?

I agree Dreher is deeply interested in writing about the Catholic Church but Dreher isn’t in the Church. He left it.

If you were an honest Church leader who wanted to “tell the truth” wouldn’t you be more likely to go to a current Catholic?

Not necessarily. He’s now an orthodox but he’s still a well know religious affairs writer

Yes, and as far as I’m concerned, he has no business and no credibility commenting. Angry ex-Catholics, phooey. If they wanted to have a say they could stay on board. I think more of Jack Chick than I do of Rod Dreher who makes his money bashing Catholics.

Joseph Sciambra, who was himself abused by priests, (not McCarrick) reflects on the McCarrick Report HERE.

Latest news? The widespread abuse went on for decades.
You asked, I answered. God isn’t a news outlet. We humans find things on our own, we’re fooled by things, we make decisions. Popes are just as human as the rest of us.

The teaching system in our country has provided an outlet for adults to abuse children for just as long, and much more widespread.

Who is responsible for magically finding all of the perpetrators in the school system and outing them to the authorities?

The Cure of Ars was in “nowhere.” Just saying…
