I wish it would pass for my sister who’s gay but sadly it doesn’t always pass.
Based on my very limited study of Marx, he really doesn’t. With due respect to the poster, I’m not sure “Marxist” is the adjective to be used here. It is fairly evident to any traditionalist, conservative, what have you, observer of society, that there is a massive juggernaut of what I think of as “shared grievances”, and nobody fuses that together better than the toxic stew of the mainstream media, Hollywood and the entertainment industry, the educational establishment, and that champion of coalition-building, the Democratic party in the United States.Within about 6 months something happened, she cut her hair short, defined who she is on her own accord and stopped listening to “conformity doctrine” of the present Marxist culture.
It works something like this: there are various interest or identity groups within the larger society. Each of them agree that they are in some way “oppressed”, “disadvantaged”, “misunderstood”, or have some set of grievances that need to be addressed and made more fair and just. These groups include, but are not limited to, women’s rights advocates, advocates of reproductive freedom, sexuality that wants to be free of consequences or constraints, various visible minorities of color — especially those who can point to systemic discrimination and oppression as having left them disadvantaged — sexual minorities (LGBTQ+), religious sects with a history of having been persecuted, immigrants both legal and illegal (especially the latter), and so on. There are others. These interest groups all agree to fuse their agendas and support each other, and they become “darlings of the media” and become favored by anyone who seeks “social justice”. It’s a potent mix, and I don’t see how they lose as many elections as they do. You’d think they’d win them all. If you want to learn more about how it works, just read Saul Alinsky. The man was a genius. Talk about someone who understood the human condition!
Yet, wasn’t Marx Jewish as were also many devotees of Marxism? This may explain why Marxists (such as the British Labour Party under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn) are sometimes indifferent to the concerns of minorities (such as, in the case of the British Labour Party, Jewish people).
This is a self conflicting statement. Normal implies average. Seclusion (right or wrong, not the point) is an outliers belief. Humanity is communal. If you and your family can find a healthy way to exist this way then all the power to you.My child has lived a normal life, very sheltered from the outside world,
She’s a growing girl and now is questioning herself and trying to identify where she fits into it. It’s a completely normal process (ignoring the LGBT components for a moment.)About two years ago she stumbled up on a game which took her to an online comunity which open the doors to a whole lot lgbt information and now she is convinced she is a lesbian. My heart is broken and every morning I woke up with a feeling of a hole in it.
Why does she have to be a “girly girl”? Don’t boil down her gender into a pigeon holed role. What can I do? What to read? How to lead my (used to be) girly girl?
Agreed. There’s the problem. A blade is not tempered in a freezer but by fire. Do not try to keep her from the world, but teach her why Catholicism is better than what the world offers.
I’ve always had a problem with “self affirmation” like this due to a show. I know it great to hear someone agree with you but the truth should be what matters. The other day, I was listening to conservative talk radio while I was out running errands, and Mark Steyn, guest host on Rush Limbaugh, said almost the exact same thing that I said above (my family is very used to hearing me discuss this). I just sat there gasping like a guppy! “Someone else gets it…”
It’s easy to say; gender roles and the family building blocks but forget life is chaotic at best. You can say the family unit is being eroded away but excluding morality for a moment if you can not all families or people are created equal. The other day, I was listening to conservative talk radio while I was out running errands, and Mark Steyn, guest host on Rush Limbaugh, said almost the exact same thing that I said above (my family is very used to hearing me discuss this). I just sat there gasping like a guppy! “Someone else gets it…”
Marx was of Jewish ethnicity but he was not a practicing Jew. His father was a Jewish convert to Christianity. This may explain why Marxists (such as the British Labour Party under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn) are sometimes indifferent to the concerns of minorities (such as, in the case of the British Labour Party, Jewish people).
I am not affirming, and would not affirm, that “I’m right because someone else agrees with me, and on a nationwide talk show at that”. All of the people in the world agreeing on a falsehood or error, doesn’t make it true or right. The other day, I was listening to conservative talk radio while I was out running errands, and Mark Steyn, guest host on Rush Limbaugh, said almost the exact same thing that I said above (my family is very used to hearing me discuss this). I just sat there gasping like a guppy! “Someone else gets it…”
I observe what goes on in society, and what kind of messages the media feed us in every way they can, and ask myself “whose interests are being promoted?”, “what particular social groups are portrayed as though they can do no wrong, and no harsh word may ever be spoken of them?”, “which groups are portrayed in movies and TV shows as sympathetic characters, and from which groups are the villains drawn?”, and so on.
I am a very careful consumer of mass media and entertainment.
I’d agree that none of those who’d embraced Marxism and/or Communism,Yet, wasn’t Marx Jewish as were also many devotees of Marxism?
would I too consider ‘fully faithful’
Re: Marxism and its Daughters…
The Russian Revolution not only caused problems amongst some Jews,
the Humongous Destructions and Murders against the ROChurch
is as an immense AntiChristian Event… ushering in Atheism and much more.
You instead should be asking:I observe what goes on in society, and what kind of messages the media feed us in every way they can, and ask myself “whose interests are being promoted?”, “what particular social groups are portrayed as though they can do no wrong, and no harsh word may ever be spoken of them?”, “which groups are portrayed in movies and TV shows as sympathetic characters, and from which groups are the villains drawn?”, and so on.
Of course there is truth in it. Of course the various “identity groups” do have some valid grievances and concerns. I don’t deny that for an instant. I listen to what they have to say. It would be unjust not to. That is not what I am talking about. You instead should be asking:
“What can I learn from this. Is there truth in it.”
They don’t work and even if they did it’s not applicable in this case. The issue was her exposed to people, less so media. There are a lot of parental controls for the internet that have built-in parental control software, add-on monitoring software, web content filtering software, and internet blockers. These can usually be set up to block access to for computers, cell phone, ipad etc to specific websites that can prevent children from accessing. Don’t forget the cell phone (mini-computers) if you choose to look into this route.
Good to hear.I seek balance.
Yes they do work. If she discarded her dolls two years ago then Maria’s daughter must still be quite young. Maria states that her daughter has been on a online community promoting LBGT. There is no mention from the OP that she is meeting up with people face to face around LBGT issues. They don’t work and even if they did it’s not applicable in this case. The issue was her exposed to people, less so media.
The OP has only posted once and this is what she states. The child was on the net.The op said meeting people in a game community.
About to years ago she stumbled up on a game which took her to an online comunity which open the doors to a whole lot lgbt information and now she is convinced she is a lesbian.
Just so we’re clear, the Internet can’t convince somebody to become a lesbian. She may be confused about her identity and end up straight.About to years ago she stumbled up on a game which took her to an online comunity which open the doors to a whole lot lgbt information and now she is convinced she is a lesbian.
The idea that “many” Jews were Marxists was really nothing more than an antisemitic canard.wasn’t Marx Jewish as were also many devotees of Marxism?
You make an excellent point. Americans definitely do not want to pay taxes. Even among Canadians, who receive very generous social benefits, I have noticed that they incessantly complain about their politicians and their taxes. I do not mind paying taxes if society will derive benefits from them, and I do not mind taxes being raised, if that will ensure more benefits. Aside from the social issues where morality is at stake, I am actually quite liberal, as traditionalist Catholics go. If Bernie Sanders were pro-life, I would find him a very appealing candidate. For most people, this means voting for a candidate who favors lower taxes, lower public spending, and less regulation. Indeed, many people will support these kinds of policies not because they will actually benefit from them (some will probably suffer as a result of them), but because they hope that they will benefit from them.
I believe in some of these causes myself, such as universal health insurance for those who want to participate (Pete Buttigieg has a splendid idea along these lines) and highly subsidized public mass transit to reduce dependence upon the automobile. The exception to this rule is probably the relatively small number of people who consistently vote for liberal left-wing candidates on genuinely ideological grounds. For example, lawyers, doctors, and college professors who earn a good wage, own their own homes, and have excellent medical insurance, but who vote for liberal left-wing candidates because they genuinely believe in the causes that they support.
And sometimes, due to the incessant drumbeats from the media, you would get the impression that the “coalition of the aggrieved” is stronger than it actually is. I was just thinking today that the small percentages (high single digits) of identity groups who do not vote according to their identity group’s perceived interests, are perhaps the reason as many conservative candidates win elections as they do.It would therefore be a mistake to assume that every woman, every racial minority, every LGBT person, etc. will vote for a party whose policies favor women, racial minorities, and LGBT people. For some people, of course, issues such as reproductive rights, affirmative action, and equal marriage will be decisive factors, but I think that for most voters, the bottom line is the bottom line.
