Archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell defended Benedict XVI’s response to the clerical sex abuse cases and remarked that “misinformation” by the media only adds to the pain victims experience.

"This issue is too sad and too serious for misinformation to be circulated, adding to victims’ pain,” the cardinal said, underscoring Pope Benedict XVI’s intention to confront this issue with firmness and special compassion for the victims.

I don’t see any ad homineming in either the quote or the full article, although I may have missed it. And trust me, either type of abuse can exist perfectly well without the other. Indeed they have.

Seems like the Cardinal simply desires both types to stop. As painfully obvious as the merit in that sentiment is, it seems to be in quite rare supply in many parts.

Having been falsely accused, himself, in mid 2002, Cardinal Pell has personal experience of the lies of the “news” media. Like a pack of wolves, they love nothing more than a feeding frenzy.
