Media Pile-On Against Pope for Quoting Against Islam

I am FURIOUS about this editorial in today’s NYT:…
Be at peace because you have spoken well of the Church. I’m sure your letter is front page above the fold in today’s Times & Beatitude Daily.

Protect your blood pressure. Why in the world would you expect anything but gleefully vigorous Catholic bashing from the New York Rag Times? Isn’t this the same publication that demanded a certain privately financed film that turned out to take Hollywood to box-office school be censored before its production started?
(NOT) Overheard in New York Times Wire Service Room, Yesterday: “Stop the Press! The Pope finally quoted Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus’ evaluation of Mohammed’s contribution to Islam. I thought he’d NEVER use that to indicate the dangerous folly of divorcing reason from faith, as was done by Mohammed’s commands to threaten for religious conversion with murder in the name of God. Woo-Hoo! Somebody find out if those maniacs in India still keep flammable Papal effigies in stock. And get the photographer there early enough to shoot them LIGHTING the thing, OK? And make sure somebody in the crowd’s got some kerosine. What countries despise Catholics? No, Canada doesn’t count–they have effigy-burning bylaws. Start calling foreign envoys for their reactions to the Pope’s accusations. Plant the seeds people, plant the seeds! Anti-Catholic diatribes don’t write themselves. Oh, Man! Finally, a reason to run that editorial demanding the Pope’s forced conversion to Islam at sword-point on HDTV! Thank you, story god.”
Except that my little indulgence in the ridiculous might not be ridiculous enough to be funny.

A man is condemned to death in Afghanistan for converting from Islam. You cannot even have Mass in a private home in Saudi Arabia. Christians are second class citizens in every Islamic state. No Islamic clergy apologizes for 911; for the beheadings of innocents; for the murder of children or any of the thousand outrages committed by Islamists. But the media wants the Pope to apologize to Islam. Yes, and the Turks who murdered millions of innocent Armenians, and murder innocent Kurds right now today, are so sensitive that they demand it too. And for what???

For telling the truth.

Islam will not be satisfied with the Pope, and would never have been satisfied with him until he declares Islam superior to Christianity and accepts dhimmitude. Neither will the U.S. Media. And the media types in the U.S. who hate Christianity with a white hot fury, will perhaps be surprised if someday some mullah tells them to convert, accept dhimmitude or die. Since so many of them are actually not Christians at all, the choice for many would be convert or die.

And like so many under the sword of Islam, they will pretend to believe.
YES! You have hit the nail square on the head. I think the apology the poe is reported to have made will weaken Christianity and therefore strengthen the Muslin peacelovers(?). No apology for history needs to be made. Obviously those who wish to rewrite it take offense.

CNN shows the Pope reading and a translator reading the quote.

And CNN just LOVES the clip of some chattering nitwit, with her face exposed, fully demonstrating the depth of willful misunderstanding of Muslims all over the world, who remain always on hot standby outside TV stations to riot on command.

The real horror is how TV creates empathy with the rioters. How long until they are shouting “Kill the Pope!” Or are they already? Are these people so stupid that they truly don’t grasp how they are MAKING THE POPE’S POINT FOR HIM BY THEIR ACTIONS? Idiocy surely knows no borders.

It reminds me of surly, striking union employees, except with guns and bombs. ''I sincerely hope the Pope will open a dialogue with Muslims and explain his comment" sincerely intones a westernized Islamic issues editor.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES SHE THINK HE WAS DOING IN THE FIRST PLACE ???

It’s not up to the Pope to apologize for history’s judgement of Islam. It’s up to the Muslim apologists to reach down deep and produce some of the intellecual honesty they demand everyone attribute to them as a matter of course.

When are we going to see a TV anchor who asks “Why are muslims upset that the Pope disagrees with Islam’s centuries-old commands for forced conversion to Islam under threat of execution?”

CNN “Many muslims are accusing the pope of religious intolerance”

Every word of this line is carefully weighed and calculated for effect. This is just tabloid journalism. It is also spin. We get it, CNN is behind Islam all the way. I get it. Why don’t they just start wearing Turbans and Burqas now and skip the rush?

How does CNN characterize Islam? Do they mean ALL muslims? Or just the jabbering pyromaniacs they like to put on TV. Do they favor the foaming performance-art style, or tsk-tsking holier-than-the-pope type, complete with wagging finger. And how well DO the westernized con-man types play with the focus groups, I wonder?

CNN has STILL NOT PUT ONE SINGLE MEMBER OF THE CURIA ON THE AIR YET. IS IT BECAUSE CNN’S MANAGEMENT ARE SNIVELLING COWARDS WHO FEAR VIOLENT REPRISALS FOR FAIR JOURNALISTIC PRACTICES?

IF NOT, THEN WHY DO THEY NEVER SHOW PICTURES OF MOHAMMED WHEN COVERING STORIES ABOUT PICTURES OF MOHAMMED?

Who rates CNN’s respect, exactly? I’m just talking about enough respect to rate fair treatment by the media. Like I said in my first post, we are seeing an X-RAY of anyone who speaks or does not speak about this. Boy is CNN speaking. Here is what is really inside: Cowardly sycophants who bow to the threat of Islamic violence. With animated video graphics.

If that’s the case, then the war on terror is already won, and all that’s left is to raise the crescent flag over the White House.

Pope John Paul II was quoted as saying “If it doesn’t happen on TV, it doesn’t happen.” So CNN is doing its part to make sure that basic courtesy to the Catholic Church never happens on TV. In general people imitate the attitudes TV dictates to them, so they teach the public to hate the Church.

How far is that from teaching the public to love the Koran?

Or else.

Has anybody seen other media spinmeisters’ work, or are they all singing from the same NYT sheet that was pre-distributed last night, as usual?

Like forever the mass media is rubbish, beginning with CNN and anti-christian President Turner.
Exactly. I wouldn’t even give them the credit of being intelligent enough to plot with Islam. They’re merely spoiled bratty children who get attention by screaming. The only reason they appear sympathetic to Islam at the moment is that they’ll join forces with anyone else who hates the big bad Catholic Church and the big bad American government (when it happens to be headed by a non-Democrat). As other posters have rightly pointed out, can we really expect anything else?

His Holiness has more guts in his little finger than the MSM and the Islamic world combined.

He hasn’t made an apology, unofficial or otherwise. He merely said that he was upset at the Muslim reaction, which has been predictably vicious and irrational, and being a true man of peace, he deplores the violence that they threaten at the drop of a hat. No retraction, no official comment straight from Benedict and none will be forthcoming.

Our Papa knew exactly what he was saying in the first place - he said what he said for a reason, and the Muslim fanatics are only proving him right. No matter how much they go on ad nauseum about Islam being the “religion of peace”, their continual foaming at the mouth proves otherwise.

I am not worried about the media. Their response is typical. They love death as much as the terrorist do. They however prefer it to be done out of sight. Abortion, euthanasia, Plan B, birth control and embroyonic stem cell research. One group is so smart they don’t need God and the other is so religous that they don’t need wisdom. We need to pray for both groups of lost souls. In some ways we as Catholic are responsible because we have fallen down on the great commission to spread the WORD of GOD. Now is the time to Be not Afraid.

And your words are the very essence of the Pope’s lecture 🙂

Faith and reason need to go hand in hand. You separate them and you get murder done in the name of each.😦

CNN Healine News: “The Pope is… very upset… about muslim reaction to a sheech HE MADE”

“…over a speech HEEEE MAAAAAADE”

Translation/morality lecture to our Pope:
Y-O-U-’-R-E upset, BXVI? Well YOU’re the one who made the speech they didn’t like. It’s all your own fault. What did you expect by noticing Islam’s duplicity? You can’t mention TRUTH around some people. They’ll blow up your CAR. At least we at CNN do it by keeping the Curia away from our studios while you’re under attack. Overseas, they have different cultural traditions from ours when demanding asassination of Popes. We’re just more civilized about it. Look at those poor, oppressed protesters, lighting puppets on fire for our cameras. Those people will probably be late for dinner tonight. Look at them holding up signs with pathetic, yet meaningless attempts at accusatory slogans. I bet they had to wait all day for the cameras to show up, too. Well, at least they’ll all get paid a few bucks by the local Imam. Look at the violence “your words” created. History is not something to be examined and discussed, Pope, it’s to be revised or erased. When will you learn? It doesn’t matter that peace can only be attained through authentic, reasoned dialogue to reveal the reality of objective Truth Himself, because REAL Muslims just obey the Koran and kill all the infidels. It doesn’t matter that such coercion with violence is insane, not to mention inhuman. The sooner you learn that, and get in line and knuckle under to the threat of murder from Islamic extremists terrorists like we do in the media, the safer we’ll be. And after all, isn’t that what it’s really all about? Us?

Look, you want an invitation to enter into the eternal joy of your Father’s house or a few years orchestrating people to spread lies through the media? Huh? How hard is that choice? You gotta back the right horse, Your Holiness.

You gotta admit though, some of those terrorists are just crazy enough to land an Airbus on the altar in St. Peter’s at 500 miles an hour. It’s not like that sort of thing is unheard of. Well, I’m off to my tailor for my shapeless robe fitting now. Never hurts to be prepared. You think I can carry off a gold-tone sword?

Remember, this is Connecticut.
Hey, I live in the first province in Canada to impose a state-defined morality on the family through the public school system: AT THE EXPLICIT DIRECTION OF A HOMOSEXUAL COUPLE.

The provincial government mysteriously gave them god-like powers over the school system because they won their little Human Rights Tribunal (which means P.C. Kangaroo Court) case–which they filed NOT TEN DAYS after Paul Martin’s now-defunct Liberals rammed it through with every trick in the book.

I am not kidding you. The Province of British Columbia has put an activist “gay couple” of men in charge of imposing homosexual indictrination upon children from K-12 - AND THEY ARE DEMANDING THE LAW CHANGE TO INCLUDE PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND DENY ANY OPT-OUT TO PARENTS.

This was all done without a syllable of legislation or debate. Comrade. Find it odd you haven’t heard about it? Barbara McGuigan on EWTN called what is happening in British Columbia a “cautionary tale.” Beware, friends. And be awake.

A lot of people were alarmed by the recent similar fracas in California. If you want a preview of coming attractions, start listening to Canadian talk radio stations when you’re on the computer. They all stream. PM me for links.

Paul Martin sold his soul and the whole country’s future to Satan last summer, but most people are so asleep, they don’t care.

Thank God our new PM, Steven Harper is keeping his promise to reopen the “marriage debate” as it’s called. Pray for us.

I’m surprised the people you mention weren’t burning effigies of the pope after this address to the Canadian bishops  :

vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/september/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20060908_canada-ontario_en.html

Here is a pertinent part:

“At the same time, however, certain values detached from their moral roots and full significance found in Christ have evolved in the most disturbing of ways. In the name of ‘tolerance’ your country has had to endure the folly of the redefinition of spouse, and in the name of ‘freedom of choice’ it is confronted with the daily destruction of unborn children. When the Creator’s divine plan is ignored the truth of human nature is lost.”

The first priority for today’s media is to make a profit - something they are not doing too well at. There is hope that some sensationalism will improve their declining circulation. Secondly, they would like to maintain safe access for their reporters to non-democratic countries. That is best achieved by telling the story that those countries want told. They don’t object if a little truth gets through, but it is low on their list of important matters. As Garrison Keilor once said: " Truth and the media are like the number seven and the color green. You may occasionally find them together, but don’t consider that cause to draw any conclusions for the future."

It took almost three days for the HF’s speech to get “noticed.” School just started. Just wait until they detect a slow news day.

I think you failed to read the post carefully. I refer to the part saying he was reported to have made an apology not he made an apology. Today things turned out different. No problem however be it known that I strongly believe in our ROTTWEILER at the Vatican and support him fully.

Like forever the mass media is rubbish, beginning with CNN and anti-christian President Turner.
Ted Turner is no longer part of the management of CNN or the numerous other channels he started.

The media is a puppet of our enemies.

They made a huge issue over the Muhammed cartoons, but seemingly gave a free pass over art works like “Piss Christ” and the picture of Mary covered in dung.

They sensationalize the Pope’s statements, sensationalize “alleged” disrespect of the Quran at Gitmo, sensationalize any mistreatment of a prisoner as if its common practice and not an isolated incident, and give a seemingly free pass to the atrocities the terrorists committ.

Did you realize see how they made the forced conversion of the Fox reporters a non-issue?

Consider calling the police for advice. You pay taxes. In war a sympathetic attitude towards possible enemy agents is grouped with aiding and abetting the enemy.
You just made an excellent case for pacifism, since apparently a democratic country can’t wage war. Obviously locking people up for expressing political opinions is utterly incompatible with anything remotely resembling democracy.

Can’t you see that this is the same mentality the Islamicists have? Criticize us and we’ll get you. . . .

Edwin

Do you have any links regarding the forced conversion of reporters? I’d like to read more about that.

I think you’re definitely correct when you say that a large portion of the American media are the enemy within. Its too bad so many everyday people dont realize this.

We just have to keep warning others, ‘Hey, there’s a really dark, very powerful storm on the horrizon and it will harm or kill those in its path’ and hope they listen. That’s the way I look at it.

LONDON, September 18, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The international furor over the Pope’s comments at Regensburg last week appears to have begun through a series of carefully stage-managed media reports.
Further proof that the MSM must me eliminated (legally) as a influence in the world.

Wow, that’s about the most misleading LifeSiteNews article I’ve read, which is saying something. The idea that reporting the news as it develops is “stage managing” it is really just stunning. If that’s true, it’s unfortunate that the media also felt the need to stage manage Hurricane Katrina, the 9/11 attacks, the Clinton-Lewinsky affair, genocide in Rwanda, etc.
