I’m not worried about this leading to other drugs and I never drive while using alcohol or hydrocodone or muscle relaxers. After thirteen years of using hydrocodone I’ve always been careful. My concern is the ethical use of medical marijuana. I will need to speak to my priest about the federal law issue.

Fair enough. I’m glad they have helped you and others. I wish you nothing put success with your pain management and I pray you find the right solution.

Just to be clear, I didn’t mean this may be a sin for you because of the federal laws. I have no idea about that.

I meant, if you have any type of professional license, or if you may be subject to a drug screen you may have an issue as all of the state laws that have legalized marijuana are presently conflicted by federal law.

I’m retired, so no concerns about drug tests. All my life I work with security clearances and never considered doing anything illegal. But I appreciate the thought. I am concerned about the possibility of sin with it being against federal law. A question for my priest.

This is a great point. I would caution any Federal employees, including Military members, contractors, or anyone who does business with the Federal government should be VERY careful about using marijuana or CBD without written consent from their agency’s ethics office.

I would get it in writing from someone in the ethics office permitting you to use any of these substances before proceeding with any kind of use…

My point, many people use marijuana and have improved their lives though sensible use of the product.

There are a lot of legal drugs that cause harm. But you have to read the fine print on the TV disclaimers or listen closely.
My favorite is “don’t use xyz if you are allergic to it.” How would a person know if they were allergic to a product before having taken it and had an allergic reaction?

As a Public Sector Employee, I have sat through yearly Mandatory Employee Meetings concerning drug use in the workplace.

Ohio legalized Medical Marijuana; however, Public Employees, such as myself, will still be fired if we test positive for THC. Even taking CBD Oil could be very risky. 😐

Maybe this will change in the future but from what I’ve heard it’ll take approval from the FDA and the support of the AMA.

Big Pharma fights marijuana legalization, because they know that many people who are in pain from various ailments would helped for much less than prescription pain killers. $$$$$$

but I find opioids a lot more harmful. Yet, little is being done. Why? Big Pharma.
I do not know where you live, but here a heck of a lot is being done. It is hard for people with chronic pain to get medication to improve quality of life.

One thing to consider is that if you have a CCW license can be put in jeopardy in some areas if you have a medical marijuana card…or so I have heard.

I agree strongly with this! I’m a chronic pain patient and have been on narcotics for years. I’m under the direction of a pain specialist and my family doctor and the hoops we all have to go through every year and every prescription are a pain in their own right.

The opioid crisis isn’t caused by doctors in general, it’s the medicines being brought into the country for “research”…Large quantities that then become street available as the research facilities are just fronts for the illegal operations. Have some doctors over prescribed in the past? Yes. Are they still…No. or such a small number as to be insignificant.

Everyone is so busy scrutinizing doctors that they aren’t paying attention to deliveries to scam research facilities…and real patients in real pain are punished.

Amen…I am currently on the verge od going on disability if they cannot get a handle on things. Been in chronic pain since 2000 after a workplace injury…then arthritis and other issues.
Your GP will not prescribe anything heavy duty…you have to go to the “pain clinic” which I refuse to do.
Several were busted around here for doctor/company fraud…people lined up around the corner of the buildings to get in.

The ones like myself who truly need it are unfairly punished…

@Convert3, one thing I would discuss with your doctor if the church gives you the Ok to use medical marijuana is, if it doesn’t work as well as the pain meds, can you return to using them or are there still other alternatives you can try. Opioids shouldn’t affect your kidneys, I think it’s the Celebrex, right?

I hope you get answers that you are comfortable with!

The Celebrex and other NSAIDs are what I need to avoid, though my doctor did say a reduced dosage of Celebrex combined with Tylenol make work out. We’re doing more lab work, then will make a decision.

I can only speak to the pain specialists that live here, but they do not take it as their job to manage pain, but to manage addiction. They are pitifully suspicious, leaving them very bad at their job, and really terrible at being actual doctors. Yet my family doctor who I had seen for decades is unable by law to prescribe pain medication past a certain point. This has only once been an issue for me, when I was stuck going to him to get my ineffective NSAID until I could get my cortisone injects. The incident has made me pro-legalization of marijuana as a survival mechanism.
