Medjugorje Confusion

The meeting itself and its advertisements could have mislead the laity about its supposed authenticity. I agree our pastor shouldn’t have allowed a priest to discuss Medujorgje who appeared to believe in the apparitions. Archbishop Hoser said Catholics can travel there to venerate Our Lady but not for the apparitions. My friend is convinced we cannot have devotions to Medujorgje (but the Church doesn’t condemn the devotions), saying it’s heretical.

I think it is a serious problem… maybe your parish isn’t aware of the Church’s position on Medjugorje.
The parish is clearly aware of the Church’s position on Medugorje, given that the OP stated in post #6 that the priest announced at Mass that the apparition has not been approved as authentic.

The OP further stated that
Our archbishop of Indianapolis approved the meeting, my pastor told me.
There does not seem to be any misunderstanding here.

I just googled the name of the priest/speaker mentioned in the original post, and it seems he is a Medj supporter. In fact, I could find no relevant quotes that would not violate the rules of these forums.

It seems that your pastor knows the rules about presuming the authenticity of these apparitions. So, listen to him!

Frankly, with the depth and richness of the faith, I do not need the ‘devotion of the week’ to perpetuate or grow my faith. This constant distraction from the basics of the faith can be truly detrimental.

I am attracted to a few approved apparitions and devotions.

I scrupulously avoid those which are not approved.
