On a different note, Dominican Sisters Mary Mother of the Eucharist seriously have heards of young women flocking to their order for a “Come and See” retreat multiple times a year. I’m talking well over 100 young women multiple times a year. DSMME is probably the most well-known order for any young woman discerninig. Their average age of sisters is under 30. Truly incredible. As a current college student, I can testify that my generation IS answering the Lord’s call! I don’t have much to compare vocations from my generation to other generations…I wasn’t around then haha. But I do believe vocations in general are on the rise in the US, or at least so I’ve heard. My peers and friends at college are always super supportive of those discerning. The general attitude of young Catholics is that discernment is expected, at least in the numerous Catholic circles I am aquainted with. Bear in mind this is with young practicing Catholics. More and more orders and dioceses are making information available online and accessible to young people. This is great! I know this is going to rub people the wrong way, but I’ve seen it over and over again with my peers and friends…the biggest fear for many is telling their parents. This isn’t too much of an issue when vocations is a regular dinner table topic. But it can be a roadblock for many, just as was mentioned in this article. Ok, I’m done writing now. Just some of my two cents.
