NZ has a large number of people of Scottish descent so we do see men wearing them once in a while, especially in the South Island. We also have a huge Pacific Island population here in Auckland and the men mostly wear their lavalava/sulu/pareo (etc) to Church. They are plain, tailored looking ones, not as colourful as the picture below.

i saw those cami kilts about 8 years ago at a scottish arts festival. i think they are just not catching on, though i wish they would.

my daughter and son both play in a highland band (bagpipes and scottish snare drum.) they both look great in their kilts (royal stewart). everyone most certainly DOES wear something under their kilt, as when they are not performing, they take off the kilts and have on bike shorts. (esp in hot weather they ditch the kilt because it’s 9 yards of wool!)

we know several guys who were married in kilts. they can look very formal. (think prince charles)

kilt wearing should become norm as it is so handsome, but i suppose it would be best if every guy walking the street in a kilt did not carry the sock knife (sgian dubh “skee-an doo”) or that might be like the old west.

**ha! Now, see there I’m all for that! rather appealing even. But then again, I used to pack myself. Now I don’t simply because I have enough to carry. If any fella bothers me, I figure I’ll just beat him up with the “Poppins bag” (because anything can be pulled out of it) and sic the kids on him while he’s down.😛 **

**My own dh is a t-shirt and jeans kind of man and will be to the day he dies. He does keep a backpack as his answer to the whole “man purse” issue. It holds his work laptop, a 2 liter of pepsi or mountain dew, his medical stuff (insulin, needles, glucometer, test strips, glucose tabs), snacks, a book that he never gets to read, and enough misc. crumbs and pieces of paper at the bottom for a small landfill. All that and I still tease him that if his wallet gets any fatter with all the cards and pieces of paper he stuffs in it, it’s going to knock his hip out of place to sit down. 🤷 **

I sent the link to my son as a joke and HE WANTS ONE for Christmas!

My 6’ 3", shaved head, Navy son wants a kilt  . I asked him what shoes he thinks would go with it and am waiting to hear back. —KCT

Lemme offer some advice in the shoe area:
Doc Martins or Grinders:D
Sorry, old punk rock habits die hard.

My Fiance likes me in a kilt too, and has said I can wear one at the wedding (Blackwatch though which is really the Grant Clan hunting tartan.)
Being said Fiance, I figured I should make an appearance and weigh in on this.

I love how he looks in his kilt, I find it to be a very masculine thing and I wish I could get him to wear it more often. He does wear it even a bit less casual than in the picture he posted. This one was from a highland festival and he wore work boots with it that time. That was during the hottest part of July, and I don’t think ke minded the wool at all.

He also has the full formal outfit like this (except he looks better in his) that he wore to his prom and I doubt has been out of his closet since.

Mind you, there is no convincing them to let you put your stuff in their sporran so that you won’t have to carry your purse. Heaven forbid someone should see him taking your lipgloss out in an effort to find his wallet! 😉

Please someone help,
I am actually really wondering the Traditional stance on this. Many popes and Bishops have written that men should dress like men and women like women. Including men not wearing dresses or skirts and women not wearing pants. So how is wearing a kilt ok in tradition? The kilt, togas, robes etc…What’s up?🤷

Kilts, Utilikilts, and other similar overpriced skirtlike garments for men, are widely distributed on the Internet. In some areas, they are quite popular among men.

Mostly, too espensive, though, if you ask me.

Much less costly are simple denim cargo skirts with pockets and belt loops. They are inexpensive, comfortable, and practical. Available in a variety of colors, styles, and lengths.

The only thing, and this is a big thing, for many guys, is that you have to buy these from women’s clothing sellers.

Since, for many, many years, women have been buying clothes for themselves at men’s clothing departments, men are now returning the favor.

Women seem amused at the sight of a man in a skirt. Some of the gals like it, and others don’t, but most take a long look.

As a shy fellow, I find the denim skirt to be an excellent social ice breaker. And, yes, I always wear underwear, under the skirt.

When I wear the skirt to go to social dance parties, I always get to dance with more women, keeping cool, all the while.

Skirts for men? Yes, by all means.

Lace up utility boots look good… the kinds that hit just above the ankle or lower calf.

I for one feel men should be forbidden to wear kilts or skirts unless they also take to wearing pantihose, reason, mistake to let them get too comfortable

we already have a man bag Euro metro thread so lets not derail
