Mens swim briefs

So I’ve been wearing long swim shorts since as far back as I can remember and I recently discovered mens swim briefs and decided to try them on; they seem much more practical and functional for the beach. However I dont know if it’s a sin or not to wear swim briefs. I have no intention of flaunting or whatever, they are just very comfortable, great for tanning, have no leg restriction, etc… So is it a sin to wear swim briefs or not?
 
Yes. It’s mortal. The penance is very specific for it too. Father will tell you as penance to walk a mile barefoot to atone for the punishment of this particular sin.

I don’t think so. It is also a cultural thing. People in North America are more self conscious of their image. You go to a beach in Brazil and most men wear speedos, regardless of body type.
 
One does not HAVE to buy men’s briefs. Any decent sports shop (or online) you can buy women’s swim shorts, board shorts, etc. I’ve worn them for years, however, I’ve lived in resort areas for 20+ years so I am used to access even at WalMart to an array of choices in swimwear.

ETA, I assumed this was a woman in the OP. If not, then, oops!

You do not ever want to tempt a sister in Christ with the sin of lust.
Stick with long swim trunks.

I would surmise the fact that it could cause temptation to sin is enough reason to choose modesty here ☺️

Virtually anything could cause lust. If women are so suggestible that they find a man in swim briefs a serious occasion of sin then they need to stay away from the beach.

This is a very silly question. Wear the briefs if you want to, OP.

Yeah, I don’t think these are going to the lust provoking item the OP thinks.

Most women I know would say a man is way sexier in a well tailored suit (where he is showing way less skin) than in swim briefs.
 
Um yeah, Speedos and the short little things are cringe provoking for me. Sadly, I’ve actually seen worse on vacation in South Beach…kinda a bag thing. Not sexy…creepy! Trunks rule!
 
Thanks guys! And yeah I’m a guy lol. What if I put a compression shirt or a rash guard on? Or is it still unacceptable?
 
If you think bikinis are okay and don’t cause lust then it’s the same for men’s briefs. If you think bikinis are bad then so are men’s briefs. Personally I’d say don’t wear them
 
Yes I am a practicing Catholic and love my faith very much. And theres nothing wrong with the name “ScentedTuna.” I have read a lot of posts regarding modesty when it comes to the beach but no one ever made a post regarding men wearing swim briefs. And yes that’s why I created an account so I can ask this question.
 
Very obviously I am the minority in my opinion that modest men’s swim attire over immodest men’s swim attire is the best choice seeing that it may cause occaison to sin. I understand women aren’t tempted to lust like men but some women might be and that’s reason enough to choose modesty. If you don’t agree fine.

Trunks are simply more tasteful.
