LOUISVILLE, Ky. —A Louisville Catholic girls school is getting national attention for its new ad campaign.

Mercy Academy recently launched an enrollment campaign reminding potential students, “You’re not a princess, but you can still rule the world.”

The message is direct and it goes against the fairy tales young girls read growing up and the Hollywood endings they see at the movies.

Mercy Academy is telling prospective students, “You’re not a princess. Prepare for real life.”

The small private school’s recently launched campaign includes lines like “You’re not a princess, but you can still rule the world.”

It seems this school is run by the Sisters of Mercy, yes? These are the sisters who educated me in my youth too. Really wonderful Irish women, all of them.

Mercy is an all-girls Catholic high school with approximately 550 students founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1885.

Ah, yes, the great Catholic girls’ school from my hometown.
