I know for a fact, they are not in our diocese because the old bishop did not welcome them and the new bishop has chosen to go with the Institute for Christ the King. There are many people involved with them from a neighboring diocese who wanted them to come here.

Besides all of this, who ever said the Mel’s priest at his chapel is FSSP in the first place? Did I miss it? Read the canons again. A group, like FSSP, may do confessions and marriages (of course their members don’t marry) for their members without permission. Outside of that, they need faculties from the local bishop.

I thought marriages and confessions also require faculties from the local ordinary. That is confessions not done in an emergency.

The current edition of the Roman Missal is the normative Latin Rite Mass. It differs in many respects from the 1962 Roman Missal, just as the 1962 Roman Missal differs in many respects from the Old Latin Rite that existed in the first four centuries of the Catholic Latin Rite.

I can’t find the latest edition of the Roman Missal online (as we are still awaiting an approved English translation), but here’s a link to the previous edition as translated by the ICEL:

I love both, but find that the 1962 Roman Missal is more like “solid food,” as I believe the bulk of Catholics would have difficulty with it, and as such need the “milk” that the editio typica provides.
