Catholics are adopted and ingrafted into the Covenant People. The Covenant is through the Hebrews, the Chosen People, the remnant who remained faithful and true; and this mechanism, becoming adopted, is how one becomes heir to the prophesied “New and Eternal Covenant.” Adoption grants full sonship rights, and this is why Sarah, in seeking to divest herself of Hagar and Ishmael, changed the status of Hagar from handmaid to mere servant. Children of the handmaid are fully adopted and have full sonship rights, including never being able to be thrown out of the household; and full inheritance. This explains the Virgin Mary’s response, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to thy word.” The Virgin Mary was assuring full sonship rights. Catholics are messianic Jews. One’s heritage is accounted through the Woman, here used as the Genesis 3:15 title Christ used of His mother. That’s why in Apocalypse 12, the Woman, the mother of Messiah, is said to have “other children” who are persecuted. Adoption through the Covenant People is through the Mother.
St. Joseph’s branch of David’s lineage, cursed of old to never ascend to the throne of David, is irrelevant in Christ’s fulfillment of the promise to David that his line would always hold the throne. As Father William G. Most asked, Why is Jesus Jewish?" His answer is, “Because His mother was Jewish.” The same goes for Messianic Jews/Catholics per Apocalypse 12. We are adopted, ingrafted into sonship through the Virgin Mary, first conveyed with Christ’s words to John and His mother while on the cross. “Woman, behold your son; son, behold your mother.” We are a royal priesthood as a people. And let us, as Christ commanded, pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Remember, it is God who veils the hearts of those Jews not accepting Christ during this “time of the Gentiles.”
