While I feel strongly for those who have suffered under Castro, being myself a child of parents who fled communist Eastern Europe, I don’t think it’s ever right to rejoice in anyone’s death.

Prayers for his conversion and salvation, and for the future of Cuba, would be the appropriate Christian response.

Tell that to the Romanians. If I’d lived under the “Makes Vlad Tepes (AKA Dracula) look like a saint” regime of Nicolae Ceausescu, I’d celebrate his death.

Having a lottery to pick the firing squad, as they did, might be going a little overboard.

Personally I can’t decide whether to be upset that someone would do this or happy that the refugees might not have to worry about him anymore!
I would do both. He’s a tyrant, and the end of his reign is something to be satisfied about. That’s Castro.

On the other hand, to throw parties celebrating death is not a good thing, and I condemn it. That’s those arranging the party in Miami. There are two issues, and we can give each party seemingly contradicting feelings.

If I remember correctly, when Moses parted the sea, his enemies parished when the water returned. Angels began rejoicing, and God scolded them for celebrating his creation dying. Their death was a positive for their enemies, but nothing to dance about. We should have more regard for humanity than men like Castro.

God bless.

I’m not going to swap horror stories about what my parents lived under - it wasn’t Romania but it was every bit as awful.

I can’t find it in my heart to condemn anyone who celebrates the demise of a tyrant, but in this case it might be a hollow celebration as I doubt it’ll herald the end of his regime. (And that would be worth having a party over!)
