Good to know that patriots can organize a larger and better armed group than their flunkies.

Considering she only wanted personal protection I’d say she did a nice job.

For pete’s sake we’re talking about armed groups squaring off in public space. What the heck’s gone wrong with this country?

Looking at an electoral map and noting a few details about the protests, I would say we have a serious rural/suburban and urban divide in this country. The urban areas have no right to run the country for their benefit at everyone else’s expense.

I agree. Sadly, armed civilians waving Confederate flags will just bring about a clamp down on rural citizens. It’s not going to ‘liberate’ them.

I have no idea why they want to be identified with that symbol of the Democrat Party. Doing so makes me question their judgement and motives

It serves as a reminder to the powers that be that merely owning the cities does not grant you legitimacy over the rest of the country. As for a clamp-down, that would be risky and logistically difficult at best.

I think there are better ways to show such a thing than waving assault rifles at representatives.

The British complained that American riflemen shot down their officers from behind trees. I do not see a reason why the opposition should get to tell the other side what is and is not appropriate conduct.

The patriots protesting did everything legally. The attempt at intimidation by the legislator is disgraceful. After the American left complains about how militias are bad and opposed to democracy, they seem to have no problem with organizing their own.

Do you also support the Black Panthers bringing guns to the California state house (I believe it was)? After all if country folk have a say so do those in ghettos.

Of course not, they were Marxist terrorists.

If the legislator received credible threats, why not ask for protection from law enforcement, that is their job and avoids using militias that are bad and opposed to democracy, right?

Pudgy middle aged guys with rifles and hero complexes. Ah, well, whatever gives them meaning. I’m sure it’s fun to pretend to be the plucky protagonists in the movie running your head.

Where did I say militias are bad? And so only those who align with your views are allowed to open carry around government buildings?

We could take a look at your responses in this thread where you decry the attempt of militia types to intimidate the legislature. Calling them disgruntled children, and the hyperbole about storming the capitol was a rather nice touch.

Protesters, some armed, spill into Michigan Capitol building demanding end to stay-at-home order World News
Given the context, it seems pretty obvious. A governor making arbitrary rules, abridging the rights of the citizens, is being protested against. They are daring her to abridge their 2nd amendment right, and their Michigan legal right to carry. This seems like a conflation on their part of multiple separate issues. Has Whitmer made moves to “abridge their 2nd amendment right”? No. Has she abridged their other rights? Yes.

I have nothing personal against the British, Brexit and Boris have given me hope for them. It was simply the easiest historical example I had on hand.

Hey a fan!

Not once in that thread did I say militias are bad. I didn’t really state my political opinions either beyond saying I thought intimidation was wrong.

If by fan, you mean someone who did about 1 minute’s worth of research to confirm what your posting implies, you probably have a lot of fans.

You may not have said those exact words, but it is quite clear to see that because their political opinions differ from yours, they are a bunch of bad militia types in contrast to heroic Black Panthers who were unfairly targeted by law enforcement because they just wanted a fair shake.

Oh okay. Not a fan. I can strike you from the list. Dang.

Good guess as to my political opinions. Still wrong.
