You wished for bad weather on some ones celebration. That is pretty low.

I don’t agree with gay marriage, but I wouldn’t post that I hope the weather is dangerous at a ‘pride’ event.

Just a reminder there is no US holiday called Fourth of July. That’s the media’s term.

Please use the correct term: Independence Day.

I think you are placing way too much emphasis on a small part of what I’ve posted on this thread.

Why not address the overall idea of Trump hijacking the yearly Independence Day celebration on the mall?

I may have misspoken about that being one of the reasons. Apparently cost was the major reason for scuttling the last request.

However, from the article, here is what is the issue with the tanks.
The type of armored tactical vehicles under consideration for this year’s Fourth of July celebration can weigh 60 tons or more, and some, such as Abrams tanks, have tracks that can be particularly damaging.
The Pentagon is aware of Trump’s interest in having armored vehicles involved and is weighing having static displays of them during the celebration, defense officials said.

Particularly in criticizing an event that hasn’t even happened yet, and about which they know so little. But the things he’s doing right that the left can’t stand are things like appointing prolife Justices to the Supreme Court, reinstating the Mexico City Policy, letting the Little Sisters of the Poor off Obama’s HHS Mandate requiring that they provide abortifacients. Those are the big things they can’t stand. Lesser things he did right that they can’t stand are defeating ISIS, presiding over a 1/3 DOW upsurge in two years, having the lowest unemployment for minorities ever, having the lowest unemployment for decades, increasing real wages for the first time in decades.

Unforgiveable things like those. Well, they can claim credit for all but the prolife measures, and for those, they cannot claim credit or forgive him.
 
I didn’t really care what happened in DC on the 4th under previous administrations and I don’t really care now. It’s a wonderful holiday to focus on family, the immigrants who were brave enough to make it here in the past, and all that my family has because of them.
 
I used to like watching “A Capitol Fourth” on PBS. 🙂 Haven’t caught it in a long time, though… terrible reception. 😦
 
I think it should also include remembering our founding. Perhaps readings of the Declaration of Independence, reenactment of some of the events leading up to the signing, etc
