Don’t Seventh Cavalry units still wear those old style cavalry hats on occasion?

Two counties in Democrat-majority New York or California with a big turnout for state and local candidates could make that difference. Wasn’t AOC elected in two congressional districts? Now that’s enthusiasm for at least what you perceive as your local candidate.

There’s no such thing as a popular vote. We don’t do that in this country.
Are you disputing the numbers? They are plain and easy to understand. Is it a true statement that most people who voted did not want Trump to be President?

Would you feel better if i said that Trump only got 46.2% of the votes cast? That doesn’t change anything.

You can say that the people who did vote for Trump were strategically/luckily in the right states so that the Electoral votes were in his favor. But you can’t say that more people wanted him to be President.

Ah, got it. I totally disagree with you but I understand why you have to hold that position.
Well, you are correct that Hillary probably wouldn’t have changed the way she campaigned. She actually seemed to campaign as though she was running for the popular vote.

But we have had an Electoral College for more than a couple of years. So even if you counted the “popular vote” it would be meaningless.

All Cavalry troopers wear Stetsons still, whether in one of the squadrons of 7th Cavalry Regiment with 1st CAV, 3ID, etc, or in an airborne cavalry squadron where troopers do a lot more walking than “riding”. They are worn for low key special occasions like award ceremonies and typically on Fridays and Mondays for esprit de corps. Troopers also wear spurs with their Stetsons if they’ve earned them either in combat (gold) or by a multi-day mental and physical test, aka Spur Ride (silver). Or both. The aerial reconnaissance guys who fly around in helicopters are considered Air Cav and also get to wear Stetsons.

Here are some guys attempting to earn their spurs while being overseen by actual spur holders (in the Stetsons):

Who’s going to pay for any damage done by the tanks to the streets?
They don’t care, they’ve already hundreds of thousands in unpaid bills from other cities. What’s one more?

responsible": cost of Donald Trump’s July 4 military parade blasted by…

“Funds should be directed to the agency’s highest needs such as operation of the parks and the maintenance backlog and should not be directed to support political objectives,” the organization said.
This is rich, especially after hearing the Democratic debates and them wanting to give away the entire farm.

The letters were written in response to President Trump taking direct control of plans for the country’s premier Independence Day festivities; the writers were worried that a day traditionally set aside for Americans to come together for simple love of country was in danger of being co-opted and usurped. Judging by the latest revelations of the president’s plans, they were right to worry. The order of the day as ordained by Mr. Trump will not be patriotism but instead personality and politics.

It was bad enough that Mr. Trump sought to make the holiday about himself with plans to deliver a nationally televised address from the Lincoln Memorial, thus eliminating what many consider the hands-down best spot in Washington for fellowship and fireworks on the Fourth of July. But Mr. Trump now plans to cordon off an area in front of the memorial reserved just for dignitaries, family and friends. Nothing about reserved seating says “We the people.”

Equally, if not more troubling, is his insistence on a display of military might that will include a flyover of warplanes and the stationing of tanks or other armored military vehicles on the streets of the capital. What this will cost the Defense Department and the National Parks Service is anyone’s guess. (Officials have refused comment.) But the question of expense pales in comparison with the message that will be sent by a gaudy display of military hardware that is more in keeping with a banana republic than the world’s oldest democracy.

Administration officials say the celebration will be bigger and better than before, with more music and a longer fireworks display. But Americans shouldn’t be lured by the trappings or the spectacle or the rhetoric of Mr. Trump. Instead, like our letter writers, they should claim the day for values embraced by the founders: freedom, tolerance and respect for all.

Have you looked at the electoral map?
A lot of Americans wanted Trump to win.

Since that’s not the game they played, both of these statements are impossible to know.
however the game is played, I think that it is safe to assume that people who voted for Trump wanted him to win, and those who did not vote for him did not want him to win. In which case, a majority of voters did not want him to win.

How the game is played means everything. And the only conclusion that can be made is that Trump kicked her butt badly.

I don’t really care. I’m an outside observer. I didn’t vote and probably won’t vote next time either. At least, I won’t be voting for a viable candidate. I didn’t like either of them.

No. I mean a majority of voters.
A majority of voters from where? The state with the largest population by some 10+mil people also known as California, and the state where people are moving out by the droves these days…
