Polls vary, and they vary from time to time. At the time of this poll Trump’s and Obama’s popularity were about the same, with Obama’s sinking and Trump’s rising. And that was despite 2/3 favorable press coverage of Obama and almost zero favorable press coverage for Trump other than at Fox.

Just discount that which you don’t believe, and embrace that which reinforces your prejudices. That is no way to grow intellectually or as a person.
Yeah, polls are the source of all truth. Just like the polls that had Hillary winning big on the eve of the elections. 🤣

I proudly discount polls. Sorry if that offends you.

Wow, you create your own reality, don’t you? It’s more likely to be 5-10 years with time off for good behavior than 5 1/2 years
And some deny that they bear actual hatred for Trump? Wishing for rain on the Fourth, wanting him to go to prison.

Interesting fact: Rutherford Hayes won the electoral vote against his opponent Tilden, 185-184. (Thank you, Animaniacs.) 🙂

So, 99% of us don’t remember the first three times the popular vote/electoral college mismatch happened. But they remember the fourth time it happened. And then they see it happen again less than 20 years later.

The electoral college was deliberately structured to avoid the “tyranny of the majority”. However, there’s a number of states that are looking to subvert the safety net by pledging their votes to the popular vote winner— CO, HI, NJ, NY, RI, WA, MA, CA, NM, IL, MD, VT, plus DC. “The National Interstate Popular Vote Compact, however, will only take effect if the law is passed by states representing at least 270 electoral votes.” Last I heard, they were at 181. I’m surprised that something so full of problems and holes got that far— but looking at the signatories, I’m not too surprised. 😉

Uhm, the polls were right. They asked people who they were going to vote for, and they were right. Not looking at Electoral College voting strategy or any other made up excuse, just polling who people would vote for. They showed more people voting for Hillary, an they were right. Sorry if that disrupts your narrative.

I have no hatred for Trump. I just have eyes that can see and ears that can hear. Do you think that a prosecutor hates everyone they charge with a crime?

I think it’s because there is a belief he actually is popular or would be popular if not for the “fake news”.

The “fake news” is either not telling us how popular he really is, or is manipulating the facts to cause us to see him negatively.

The press is all lying, even Reuters and the Associated Press along with the foreign press.

That Tucker Carlson can say that Kim Jong Un is a ruthless killer because that’s how all leaders are and and he has an audience that says, “makes sense” is surreal.

No, the polls were wrong. The polls had Hillary being the next president. And the fact that they were not looking at the EC as a factor (if that’s really true as you say) just shows the pure absurdity of the polls. They showed up for a basketball game at Yankee Stadium. Brilliant.

Sorry if that disrupts your narrative.

I don’t know if Carlson said that, but regardless, to how many foreign leaders would you trust your life if your being alive threatened their power? Would it exceed 15? Would it even equal 15?

Unfortunately, there are many who think that one only criticises the President of the USA out of hatred. Personally, I don’t hate Trump, nor did I hate Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, etc

I’d like to think I still live in a country where I am allowed to criticise the head of the government without being accused of being unpatriotic or worse, of being assured of perdition.

More pretzel logic. You REALLY have to believe that Trump is popular, don’t you?

I will concede that you are right, insofar as to determine the actual winner in the electoral college one needs to break the polling up by state and do some analysis to determine who would win the Electoral College. If only I had been arguing that, it would be pertinent. I wasn’t and it isn’t.

I acknowledge Trump is President, but I am also right when I say he is unpopular and more people voted for his opponent.

That’s one of the reasons the US exists. We can criticize our leaders.

Whether they wear beige suits, or give DVD’s in the wrong format to world leaders.

Or whether they are credibly accused of rape after portraying themselves as a lothario for years.

More pretzel logic.
if you want pretzel logic look no father than your claim that Trump tweeting that there will be fireworks at the “Salute to America” shows that Trump was unaware of there being fireworks in DC on the 4th in past years.

Ummm, where did I make a claim about his popularity? You’re the one who made the claim about his unpopularity.
more people voted for his opponent.
That’s the part that I don’t get. You keep saying that. More people voted for Trump. That’s why he’s the president. I already told you the final vote count. You keep wanting to talk about the rules of a different game as if they applied to this one. You can’t join the game and then argue that you disagree with the rules. It doesn’t work that way. Suck it up.

Hey, Robert, what do you think the asterisks are covering? They are mine, not CAFs. So, what word(s) did your mind insert there?

The entire popular vote victory myth is an issue liberals who don’t want to follow the rules or who demand the rules change when they lose, so they can appear to win. It is a sign of an unhealthy need for control.
Nonsense. It is a simple a fact that more people voted against Trump than form him for POTUS. That simple fact ids brought up when posters start going on, seemingly oblivious to that simple fact, about Trump’s vast support.
