What the hell does a military parade have to do with Independence Day anyway…it’s a day for celebrating our Independence from England…our birth as a nation…fireworks…parties…family BBQ’s…sporting events…celebrating who we are as a nation…that’s what we as Catholics should be thanking God for…but all we get here on CAF is bickering and arguing…hold military parades on Veterans Day…or Memorial Day…or V-E Day… sheesh…
Perhaps a trip to the moon is in order (to put our divisions in perspective).

The number of registered Democrats has tended to be a bit larger than the number of registered Republicans, but neither constitute a majority of the electorate. About a third identify as independent.
Not sure about this, but isn’t Democratic turnout lower than Republican turnout, on average?

Why were people so shocked, dumbfounded and let down when she lost then? Don’t you remember election night?
Most people expected a HRC win. Most pools tracked voter preferences and were correct in showing HRC with ahead of several percentage points. The margin in popular votes that she had has never before been accompanied by a loss in the electoral college. So that was a surprise.

The pollsters who analyzed likely electoral college outcomes gave HRC and odds ranging from 3:1 (538) to about 20:1. For whatever reason, some people took these estimated odds. as a prediction of certain success. Such people were also surprised.

On the matter of shock: The people who find Trump appalling, which may very well include most or all of those who strongly disapprove of him, were shocked that a man of such low character could be elected POTUS, and, IMO, would have had this reaction no matter what the polls were finding.

Well, yeah.

The point in question was this:
no, it was about Trump being “widely unpopular, like never before seen”. You kindly posted a graph showing that not to be true… unless you believe “widely unpopular, like never before seen” to mean a few percentage points behind someone who was not considered “widely unpopular”.

no, it was about Trump being “widely unpopular, like never before seen”.
I already gave the quote about comparative popularity that initiated the sub-thread.
I will repeat it with the link.
Polls vary, and they vary from time to time. At the time of this poll Trump’s and Obama’s popularity were about the same, with Obama’s sinking and Trump’s rising.

“widely unpopular, like never before seen”
Uhm, I think I originally posted that. The “like never before seen” was a parody of Trump and his hyperbole. Every time he starts talking and the word salad spews from his mouth, he makes sure to add in “like never before seen” or something similar.

I suggest we who are tired of the damned if he is damned if he isn’t mindset towards Trump just leave the haters to themselves, ignore them because after two years nothing has changed🤦🏻‍♀️

As shown previously, he’s about where Obama was at the same time. "…like never seen be

It’s beyond the pale.Thank you however for your very informative posts.Youre fighting the good fight!

I appreciate that you were responding to a down stream, abbreviated repeat of the comment that started the sub-thread. In asking me about my post, I pointed out that I was providing data that addressed some of the impressionism that might come from the initial comment. The initial comment includes more material than the abbreviated repetition.

i appreciate that you are trying to change history about what comment you actually responded to. Hit the little up arrow… it takes you to the comment you responded to, which (not coincidentally) is the comment i said you did.

You are incorrect about the scope of my response.
By reading my post you would see that, while I picked up the sub-thread in mid-stream, I explicitly referred to the Investor’s Daily Poll - linked here
That is the post with the fuller material that I have referred to in my responses.

I guess that must point to the lower character
many people suspected Hillary Clinton had and would have been more appalled had she won.

How much money diverted from National parks/Taxpayer money for this show (for lack of a better word)?

I dunno, just seems odd as well as wrong right now. Perhaps if all troops were home. It’s money not well spent.
