From the Military Times:
The professional core of the U.S. military overwhelmingly favors Mitt Romney over President Obama in the upcoming election — but not because of any particular military issues, according to a new poll of more than 3,100 active and reserve troops.

Respondents rated the economy and the candidates’ character as their most important considerations and all but ignored the war in Afghanistan as an issue of concern.

The Military Times Poll is a secure email survey of active-duty, National Guard and reserve members who are subscribers to the Military Times newspapers (see How We Did It, below).
You know, I’m really surprised with this. Honestly.

I figured that his decision to allow homosexual service members to openly serve was hugely popular, as well as Michelle’s efforts to help military families, plus pulling all the soldiers out of Iraq and setting a date certain for the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

I figured he would have been a shoe-in.

😉

There’s such a thing as ingratitude, you know. 😦

I agree, Rich. You’d think the President would have more respect for the military.
Tell me about his lack of respect. Could it have something to do with his wanting to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan?

maybe the many of our military do not view him as a good Commander in Chief.

It probably has to do with the fact the President wants to cut back defense spending even to the point his own Secretary of Defense says it isn’t acceptable to make such cuts and to reduce our military to pre world war II status.

ka-ching

And his party is attempting to suppress their vote.

That was pretty upsetting to hear about in Ohio. Our military members serving overseas should have the most help in getting their votes counted!!!

… should read, “Maybe -]the/-] many of our military do not view him as -]a good/-] Commander in Chief.”

Remember the Clintons? Remember Murtha?

People still buy that? That was something that Fox reported that was completely untrue but spread like wildfire. He wasn’t suing to have early voting taken away from military members. He was suing to have early voting extended to everyone.

There is ingratitude and then there is ingratitude. Example: When the Revolutionary War was over, the country owed John Paul Jones a lot of back pay. The congress paid his heirs in 1848 – 50 years after he was dead. This country has never been grateful to its military; otherwise why are we seeing ads on TV requesting donations to help disabled vets, help that should be provided by the government?

God forbid we cut back on military spending. Gotta feed the guns, you know. 😦 😦 🤷

A link to these donation requests, please.

Funny thing about the military. If they don’t think you have their back, they don’t vote for you.

You have a point there. He hasn’t led our forces into battle, which every president/Commander in Chief should have done - like Teddy Roosevelt, and Eisenhower, and Grant, and Jackson, and Washington did. 🤷

trace adkins started a group supporting the military and the injured vets. in fact, even the liberals came out with one a few months ago (i figured since it was near election time to show that alec baldwin, ect. support the vets). i can’t remember what it is called. the name didn’t really make sense to me. in fact, i haven’t seen the ad for some time now.

…These refer to local veterans, both disabled or not, and to the local volunteer groups assisting them.
There should be absolutely no need for the donations nor the volunteer groups because the government should be providing whatever the disabled vets need. Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that sends in armies [no pun intended] of its bureaucratic superheros when so much as one woman cries “sexual harassment” or “I need the government to pay for my birth control pills” but leaves a lot to be desired when many soldiers’ legs are blown off in combat. :sad_yes:
