I don’t think the ability to memorize things is a big deal, what I think is really important is the person’s intelligence, such type of people whom would think and develop their societies.

Have you noticed my early post regarding the 2 years old kid who has IQ equals to Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking!,

The ability of this child and for that matter, of any other person to effortlessly recite passages and whole chapters of the Qur’an has really got nothing to do their IQ, but rather it has a lot to do with the following Biblical verse:

**And he said:

  The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; 
  Blessed be the name of the LORD.”** ... *Job 1:21*
You see, I have heard of a case whereby a highly proficient reciter of the Qur’an i.e. a hafiz, suddenly found to his horror that he has completely “forgotten” every passage of the Qur’an except the first chapter al-Fatiha and this meant that he could no longer recite any other passage of the Qur’an.

It turned out that so many people were praising him that he started to believe their praises of his recitation skills and began charging a hefty fee for his “services” of reciting the Qur’an.

In other words, the recitation prowess of both the 3-year old child in the video and the hafiz mentioned above were a gift from their Creator and had nothing to do with their level of intelligence… and in the latter case, the swollen-headed hafiz needed to be reminded of this by his Lord.
 
It is really strange that Christians should resent Muslims who have a degree of faith in the profound truth of parts of the Bible.

If at all it is possible to quantify faith in the Bible, I would think that in general, Muslims have more faith in the ‘face-value’ truth of the Bible than most Christians.
 
I think all this has a lot to do with how baby Muslims are indoctrinated into Islam. There is nothing miraculous about it. Muslims see “miracles” in the most mundane things.

The Islamization of the Muslim mind is a process that starts immediately after birth and continues throughout his/her life. After birth, an adult holds the child and recites the azan, the call for prayers, directly into ears of the newborn. The moral of the practice is to prime the child’s hearing with the blessed names of Allah and Muhammad. Indeed, that call for prayers soon becomes the most frequently heard sound by Muslim children. The azan is repeated five times a day in every mosque in the area. If there are ten mosques in the area, which is common nowadays, the azan would be heard, through the loud speakers, fifty times a day. In addition, the newborn’s ears will get used to hearing the endless recitations of the Quran that go on almost continuously.

Muslim children are trained to recite, by heart, the short chapters of the Quran and to give pre-formulated answers to specific questions, like who your god is and who your prophet is. In addition to this, children are introduced to basic Islamic logic in the form of hypothetical arguments designed to convince a child about Islam. By ‘face-value’ truth of the Bible, I meant the verses of the Bible which are not contradicted by other verses of the same Bible.

This of course disqualifies the parts of the Bible like “Christ rose from the dead after three days, is the Son of God and the saviour of all mankind” from being ‘face-value’ truths that Muslims can believe in.

Of course you prefer to believe the “truth” as stated by a man who looted caravans, who broke treaties, who had sex with a child, who raped and tortured, who had slaves, who had people assassinated for writing satyrical poems about him, and who made lying commendable.

We Catholics take our children from infancy to Mass teaching them how to genuflect, sit, stand and kneel at the appropriate times. We baptize them. We hold them up to statues & icons for the infants/children to kiss them. We show them how to pray. We sprinkle holy water on them. We have them at our knees while we pray the Rosary. We put ashes on them each year. We bless them with holy oil when they are sick.

Just because people of another Faith immerse their own infants into that Faith does not mean that they are brainwashing them - if that were true then anyone of any other Faith could accuse you (if you are a parent) of the exact same thing.

And so, one has to wonder who taught him to memorize and recite the Qur’an at the age of 1½ years old?

Some miracles need to be seen to be believed… and even then, many would choose not to believe.
 
He was born in Tanzania if I am not mistaken… but I do not see how this has got anything to do with the miraculous nature of his ability to memorize and recite the Qur’an at such an astonishingly young age despite him being born into a non-Muslim family.

Still not seeing the “miracle” here, Larry. Like Jharek, I would have to wonder what African country he was born in. Judging from the fact that among the languages he speaks are Swahili, English, Italian, and French, I would guess it is somewhere in East Africa, possibly Tanzania or thereabouts. If that is the case, then it is not so remarkable that a family would convert to Islam, given that the population is nearly evenly split between Muslims and Christians, with Islam exercising a strong influence even on the mainland thanks to the nearly 100% Muslim population of nearby Zanzibar (which is technically part of Tanzania, but is semi-autonomous, like many Muslim-populated territories that can’t stand the idea of having to submit to a government that may not treat their religion as the extra-special way of life that they know it is). It is likely that prior to converting to Islam this family already contained extended members and friends who were Muslim. When I was in college, the Swahili teacher was a Tanzanian man who was Roman Catholic, and a lot of the things he told me about the practice of religion in his country were quite interesting. He was certainly no fan of Islam, but even he recognized that interfaith families were not so uncommon, given the fact that Muslims make up about half of the monotheists on the mainland. To purposely go out of your way to not interact with Muslims would downright silly, not to mention extremely difficult. In a way, it is similar to what we see in Lebanon, Albania, Eritrea, or any other place where Muslims and Christians frequently interact. Christians and Muslims get along to whatever degree they can, sometimes marry, and when conversion happens it is generally from Christianity to Islam and not the other way around, since the punishment for apostasy in Islam can range from complete social/professional ostracization to death.

Furthermore, I have to be honest that I find the sound of the boy bleating on and on in his sermon to be quite grating. If Muslims want to take spiritual direction from a five year old, that’s their business, but I have known plenty of five year olds in my time who have been similarly enthused about their Christian faith, and while everyone around them considered it a gift from God (as it is right to consider about this African boy, if you wish), no one thought it a “miracle”. It is not at all a miracle.

EDIT: Tanzania! Bingo! Thanks, Hamba2han. There you have it folks. Tanzania is 35% Muslim and 30% Christian on the mainland, while Zanzibar is 99% Muslim. Ooooo, it’s maaaaagic! :rolleyes:
 
It would be considered miraculous if you were able to tell in detail what you know as outlined above at the age of 1½ years… which was how old the boy was when he memorized and recited the Qur’an.
 
Now why do I get the feeling that there is more to that claim than what Hamba2han just said…

Not that it matters; it’s still not a miracle.

Some people have gifts. Some are geniuses at young age but there are those who are mentally gifted with memory. I do not know the right scientific description but I remember some having “photograhic memory”.
