What does a woman do if she knows that her uterus is an adverse environment for a baby to implant? Is she justified in following NFP with the intent not to conceive and not to keep causing the death of her children. Or does she continue getting pregnant, knowing that nothing happens without God allowing it, and thus she resignates herself with each miscarriage?

Why would you say your uterus is an adverse environment?

I’ve had 2 miscarriages and no live children. I have maybe what you would call an inhabitable uterus, since each pregnancy I have will end in miscarriage; but certain conditions can be fixed, and mine is being fixed on Tuesday…

Could you explain yoursefl a bit more? Have you had infertility testing done? The only thing that came back abnormal was my uterus, but how do you know it’s your uterus?

And I’m so sorry for your losses, however many you’ve had.

ETA: you’re justified to use NFP, of course, but have you looked medically into what the problem really is?

Well, there is the uterus shape - bicornate and it has a deep septum. This means that each time a baby attaches at the septum it will not get enough blood and die or it will get too heavy and detach…resulting in miscarriage during the first trimester. If the baby attached at any other place then things will fine - as I have 2 children that made it to term. I also have a condition that attacks the baby - antibody issue. During pregnancy I am treated for that…but it is till a concern. I am suppose to follow-up with a specialist. There is the possibility of surgery and perhaps other treatments. I am so anxious for that process to start. But there is always the possibility that the septum can’t be removed and that other things might not workout. I have hope. But in a worst case scenario, I like to know what I should start considering. I have 5 little ones in Heaven as it is. It is too difficult emotionally and physically to keep losing more. Thank you for responding…my miscarriage happened this week and it is such a difficult time.

Yessisan, I will keep you in my prayers. I hope that all goes well for you on Tuesday and that you will soon have the children that you desire.

I am so sorry Miraluna. I didn’t know you had miscarried this wk. :hug1: Big time hugs and prayers for you :hug1:I cannot imagine what you feel having lost 5 babies :hug1:

Well, I too have a spetum in my uterus, which is being fixed on Tuesday. We found out I either had a bicornuate or septate uterus when I was 5 wks pregnant in July. Sadly, that baby died too, making it my second miscarriage.

So, you have both conditions, bicornuate and septate? All I have read and even heard from my RE is that the septate uterus can always be fixed. I know the bircornuate is harder to fix, but if you’ve had 2 successful pregnancies, then the bicornuate part is not sucha big deal as the septum, since the septum lacks blood supply for a baby to grow if it implanted there.

The success rate of pregnancy goes up to 80% after a septum has been removed, right now i only have a 20% chance.

I totally understand what you mean when you say this is emotionally and physically draining (both my miscarriages happened 9 months appart) and I’m still grieving and mourning both babies… and my body is still not 100% back to normal.

We are using NFP to avoid TTC until the surgery is done and over with and after all my follow up appts and tests. I don’t ever want to go thru that heartache again. I am nervous and anxious regarding the surgery and treatment, but that is the only way for us to ever become parents. If you don’t want to live w/this anxiety for the rest of your live, get the surgery done. My RE (reproductive endocrinologist) said this surgery is less invasive than a d&c and that you can be up and about the day after the surgery (except for driving until 2 days after)…

Please consider the surgery and treatments. You will save yourself a lot of stress and possible heartbrakes… as you know, NFP may not always work because humans are weak and sometimes we cannot abstain when we’re supposed to to try to avoid a pregnancy.

My prayers are with you.

ETA: And thanks on the wishes.
