Oh, Canada!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Missal awaits Vatican approval
What’s the hold up?
It’s one Mass. Why should there be different texts?
The new English translation of the Mass will be ready for Canadian parishes only when the bishops have Vatican approval for all of the texts and an opportunity to put in place a program to teach people about the changes.
With the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announcing the new Mass texts will become standard south of the border beginning in Advent 2011, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has received enquiries about the Canadian timetable. Missal
Not so fast, said CCCB general secretary Msgr. Patrick Powers in a statement posted to the Canadian conference’s web site.
Canada’s bishops have yet to receive “recognitio” or official approval from the Vatican for adaptations of the Mass for Canada, nor for the liturgical calendar which determines when feast days are celebrated.

Different feasts (St. André Bessette, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys & St. Marguerite d’Youville, for example), different adaptations, etc.

Those would be different from the Roman Missal for the US.

  1. The new General Instruction requires that the Episcopal Conference of each country make adaptations on various matters concerning the celebration of the Eucharist, and also permits a number of additional adaptations. The adaptations being considered by the Bishops of Canada concern musical texts, musical styles, melodies and instruments; Communion under both kinds; Masses on days of prayer for particular intentions; vesture of lay ministers; art and environment—altar, furnishings and vessels; and acclamations in the Eucharistic Prayer. While awaiting the approval of these particular adaptations and their recognitio by the Apostolic See, it is recommended that diocesan bishops advise their parishes to continue their present practice.
  1. As allowed in the new General Instruction, the Bishops of Canada will also propose appropriate postures for the Eucharistic Prayer and Communion Rite. While awaiting the approval of these particular adaptations and their recognitio by the Apostolic See, it is recommended that diocesan bishops advise their parishes to continue their present practice.

Thanks for that info Phemie.
Could you please email me a car (with gas and insurance) so that I can reliably get to the nearest Tridentine Mass? 😃

Honey, you have got to be way closer to an Extraordinary Form Mass than I am (I’d have to drive about 18 hours one way).
