The Life Decisions International corporate boycott list does mention that the Orlando Disney parks contributed to Planned Parenthood of Orlando’s campaign to (allegedly) stop teen pregnancy. I do not dispute that PP is, in fact, evil. That said, do you have documentation that Corporate Disney in fact gives “hundreds of thousands of dollars each year” to PP? It would seem counter-productive of them to assist in killing-off their next generation of customers.
Firstly, I will admit that I may have overestimated the amount. Then again I may not have. I did a 3 minute google search consisting of “disney and planned parenthood” and went to two official PP sites and found articles praising Disney for $40,000 worth of grants for one project alone, $20,000 for the year 2006! If I can find that in 3 minutes, what do you think you would find if you did a thorough search of all the projects that Disney has helped to fund?
Secondly, by your own admission, you are not arguing the point of PP being evil. If that is so then why defend supporting it at all? Isn’t the fact that they helped to kill at least one and are willing to help kill at least even one more enough? Most people are appalled at the the news when one or two people are murdered and it is a major story when it is found out that someone helped in some way; yet, because it is a place where we want to go and have fun, all of a sudden it is “Well, they don’t kill that many.” or “They didn’t actually hold the knife, they just gave it to the murderer just before the did the deed…”
Finally, I think it’s a stretch to, in effect, say that a visit to Disney is the moral equivalent of procuring abortions (“helping Planned Parenthood to kill babies.”)
While I will cede that, if one has no knowledge then one is not culpable of mortal sin: I will state that if there is knowledge then one is just as guilty as the one who did the deed. Therefore, if you are aware of (or even if you have only heard it said and refused to find out for yourself because it will then mean that you will become guilty) what Disney is doing and continue to patronize them then you are as responsible as they are! It is not as if they hold a life giving drug that you or a loved one must have and you have nowhere else to go. Any one can do without Disney and live long normal and happy lives, even children.
The point is that they continue to support Planned Parenthood to any extent even after being informed that it is evil and goes against all that Christians believe in. They take Christian money and laugh at them all the way to the bank, yet Christians still continue to give them millions each and every year. They save and save and save so that they can give thier money to Disney, even after being informed of the facts.
