Brothers and sisters, please pray for me as I am continually plagued by a lack of peace.
I go into frequent periods of doubt, not about God per se, but about whether or not I am in the right church.
I am a catholic convert of just 1 year from protestantism. But even when I was a protestant I constantly concerned myself with theological issues… so much so that it was, and is now a heavy burden.
I just want to have peace that I am in the right church so I can stop worrying about it, and live a simple life of peace in Christ.

I think that you are under spiritual attack. Just know that the evil one strives constantly to separate you from the truth that is Jesus Christ. He sees your weakness and exploits that constantly. I do not recommend that anyone become infatuated with the evil one, but it is very helpful, from a spiritual standpoint, to know him and his tactics. Here is an article that may help: blog.adw.org/2013/07/four-common-tactics-of-the-devil/

Peace, as well as your answer, will be found in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament at adoration. Place your doubts before our Lord and beg Him for help. Then, be as patient with Him as He has been with you. When your answer arrives, you will be changed.

Prayers ascending.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance & direction in your time of need.

  • May the peace of Christ be with you. May the Holy Spirit guide you to the simple life within the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church of Christ.

If I may offer a piece of advice … try to take your focus off the question of “the right church” for now. Settle it in your mind that you made this decision, that you are going to give it time and will re-assess sometime in the future, but for now you will make the most of where you are.

Then as much as you can, focus simply on growing closer to God. Spend more time in prayer, read the Bible, receive communion, attend Adoration if it is available.

I think the more we worry about “a thing” and focus on it and stew over it, the less at peace we will be. For now, it doesn’t matter whether you are in “the right church.” For now, be still; deepen your relationship with God. That takes time and effort and focus and is much more fruitful than worrying. 🙂

A little prayer I often say is, “God, whatever you ask of me, please make it obvious - you know how I second-guess myself!”

Take care :grouphug:

That is a good prayer and I’m sure Jesus will answer that one.

May God bless and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.

Boy, oh boy can I relate to this original poster’s sentiments! Also, the advice given in the reply I’ve quoted struck home for me as well.
