Mission San Juan de Capistrano, in San Antonio, TX, was defaced by vandals this past weekend.

“Black spray-painted symbols resembling the acronym “ATM” now mark one wall of the more than 200-year-old church and another structure that surrounds human remains on the South Side park’s grounds.”

"The Rev. Jim Galvin, pastor for 12 years, said the same symbol appeared on a church wall four or five years ago. Whoever painted it was never caught, he said. "

““It’s a historic place, where San Antonio began, really,” Galvin said. People attending Mass on Sunday morning shook their heads in disapproval and gasped when he told them about the vandalism, he said. “It’s very annoying that these people would deface a historic building and a place of worship,” Galvin said.”
