That is why I believe that either Muhammad was misquoted whatever source he might get, or Uthsman has corrupted the original Quran by Muhammad. Usually nothing good can come from evil, anyway.

**To me all fanatic non-believers are Kafir. That is the hostile non-believers only. Not every non-believer is a kafir. Any peaceful person of whatever faith is alright according to Quran.

The Muslims will need proper lessons. They have mistakes about Muslim and Momin and Kafir and Jihad. They feel that every person who has not accepted Islam is a Kafir. That is not right. Kafir is a special word which needs understanding.

As I said, the forces of Pharoah were Kafir in the time of Moses. The Muslim belief that every one who has not accepted Islam (has not recited the Kalimah) is a Kafir. That is not right at all. And there is no killing of any innocent person. Not allowed.

Yet some people are teaching such things in Islam. They are waging a war which may be more political than religious. Please do not mind. I believe that all christians and Jews are good and loving unless to the contrary. The christians have had a good history and they are very good people. I have personal experience of some very good christians. Never I had any problem with any christian.

They are the best people and they are enjoying the fruits of goodness. I am not worried about their beliefs. As long they are peaceful, there is no harm. I will present the proof that all Jews and christians and Sabiens (people of other faiths) as long as they are believing in God and doing good deeds and believing in hereafter, they are very good. They do not have any fear of the past or the future. That is as per Quran.

But again, in this matter, my own muslim friends will have a different view. I know their view too. Please do not mind. go the way you like peacefully, with your slogan of love thy enemy.

I am a devout Catholic, however, in the country i live in all religions live at peace, we have Catholic, Hindu, Muslim, Baptist public holidays. my high school education took place at a muslim run school, ASJA Girls College. At this school all religions attended, and no one was ever forced to pray to ‘Allah’ nor wear hijab etc. They do worship one God as the Creator, and the english translation of their prayers are similar to ours.

The Catechism of The Catholic Church states:

841 The Church’s relationship wit the Muslims. ‘The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst Whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.’

i have never read the Koran, but what i’ve heard of it, it sounds alot like the Old testament Laws to me.

actually i live in TRINIDAD and TOBAGO (in the caribbean ) i know of all the terror that go on in Iraq etc. this is another case of
when people interpret scriptures to suit their own misguided thoughts it is then we have so many dictatorships.

it is similar to Protestants, they interpret the Bible in their own way and so blaspheme against the Catholic Church.

i am not defending Muslims, but there are some who truly want to serve the one God, and it is those, according to the Catechism will recieve salvation.

the only way we can have true peace is to understand each other, and have respect for the beliefs of others, and for them to understand us as well. Force only results in more rebellion, but compromise can can bring peace.

**Very good post and advice to be peaceful. It is necessary for the Muslims to be peacefull and to understand their own religion properly. No one is perfect, as the christians say every one is a sinner. The Muslims are not far behind in their sins.

The religion Islam does not teach any sinful act. That is definite. It allows free thought and free choice of any faith. It says “There is no compulsion in religion (Al-Quran 2:256)”. It says “All praise is for Allah (God), the chrisher of all things” (Al-Quran 1-1). The muslims need to understand many things about their own religion.

Islam teaches “There is no compulsion in any religion”. But what happens if the relgious leaders do not teach that to the Muslims in Muslim countries. They act against this important rule and so they oppress and persecute the non-Muslims on many counts. That is not the fault of religion. It is the fault of the clergy.

Islam says “The Jews and Christians and people of other faiths as long as they believe in their God and pray to him (in their own way) and believe in the accountability of the hereafter, they have nothing to be afraid of in the future and nothing to be sorry for anything of the past.” Verse 2:62.

** That is not true. Islam is for peace. Islam gives complete freedom to chose any religion. It says “There is no compulsion in religion”.(Quran 2:256)

Islam does not order to kill any innocent person. But it fights the enemies of any religion. Only the active enemies are the Kafirs. The people who argued and opposed Jesus in his time were the Kafir. Similarly, Pharoah and his hosts were the Kafir who oppressed the Israelis just because of their beliefs.

allana, keep your faith, any faith and be peaceful and love (not hate) anyone. Jesus went ahead more than that. He taught his friends to love even their enemies. that is the best policy. Follow it. Read the Quran. But be careful for the word Kafir. That is for hostile disbelievers, the fanatic type non-believers only. Love.**

** ms-777, that was not a good advice to allana. If I need to know something about christianity, it is better for me to ask a learned christian. That is the right way. Why should I go to a Jew or a Hindu to ask about christianity?

Similarly, it is best for allana to read quran herself (by some translation). If necessary she can ask any capable Muslim too. At the same time she has her knowledge of the church teachings and she may take your advice too. But why to tell her that she should not ask any muslim about Quran? I feel that was not a good/ justified advice. But anyhow, let her decide…**

**You are right. Many Muslims ( leaders, Imams) are ignorant. They do present a bad picture of Islam due to their ignorance. But we cannot let them get away with it. They are heretics. There is plenty of infighting amongst the muslims.

I have good knowledge of those ignorant muslims and their bad beliefs. They have reversed and ignored some of the beautiful teachings of Islam. I mention just a few of thos ebad things below:

1. They believe that there is no compulsion in religion for any one coming into Islam. But when some one comes then he cannot leave Islam. he will be killed.
2. They believe that some of the verses of the Quran are abrogated (no more valid). But they do not know which are those verses.
3. They believe that adulterers (married persons) must be stoned to death.
4. They believe that every one who has not recited the Kalimah is a kafir.
5. They believe taht all Jews and Christians (even peaceful ones) will burn in hell.

I have just given only five examples above. The list may be quite long. None of the above is true according to the Quran. But it is all practically there in all the mosques.**
