Where do you think in transcript Ryan contradicted Romney?

Romney said

‘Of course there are a number of things that I like in health care reform that I’m going to put in place,’’ he said in an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC’s ‘‘Meet the Press.’’ ‘’One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage’

‘I say we’re going to replace Obamacare. And I’m replacing it with my own plan,’’ Romney said. ‘‘And even in Massachusetts when I was governor, our plan there deals with pre-existing conditions and with young people’

Romney did not say he would not repeal ObamaTax
Here’s what Ryan said from the link to the transcript you provided.
RYAN: Here’s the secret on this one. Medicaid spending still goes up under what we’re proposing. What we’re saying is we want to repeal ObamaCare, because we think it’s a terrible law. And so we’re taking away the massive increases in ObamaCare that are attributable to Medicaid. About a third of the people that ObamaCare is supposed to serve, they’re just pushing people on Medicaid.
When asked by David Gregory if he would repeal Obama Care, Romney didn’t answer but said he would replace it with his own plan. When pressed further, it was a modification of the plan.

In fact, Romney during the GOP primary debates, said he would modify Obama Care. He wants states to run it as Massachusetts does.

Either way you want to believe, Romney Can’t repeal a law passed by a previous congress.

MITT’S PLAN

On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Obamacare waivers to all fifty states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible.

In place of Obamacare, Mitt will pursue policies that give each state the power to craft a health care reform plan that is best for its own citizens. The federal government’s role will be to help markets work by creating a level playing field for competition.*

Restore State Leadership and Flexibility

Mitt will begin by returning states to their proper place in charge of regulating local insurance markets and caring for the poor, uninsured, and chronically ill. States will have both the incentive and the flexibility to experiment, learn from one another, and craft the approaches best suited to their own citizens.

Block grant Medicaid and other payments to states
Limit federal standards and requirements on both private insurance and Medicaid coverage
Ensure flexibility to help the uninsured, including public-private partnerships, exchanges, and subsidies
Ensure flexibility to help the chronically ill, including high-risk pools, reinsurance, and risk adjustment
Offer innovation grants to explore non-litigation alternatives to dispute resolution
Promote Free Markets and Fair Competition

Competition drives improvements in efficiency and effectiveness, offering consumers higher quality goods and services at lower cost. *It can have the same effect in the health care system, if given the chance to work.

Cap non-economic damages in medical malpractice lawsuits
Empower individuals and small businesses to form purchasing pools
Prevent discrimination against individuals with pre-existing conditions who maintain continuous coverage
Facilitate IT interoperability
Empower Consumer Choice

For markets to work, consumers must have the information and the power to make decisions about their own care. *Placing the patient at the center of the process will drive quality up and cost down while ensuring that services are designed to provide what Americans actually want.

End tax discrimination against the individual purchase of insurance
Allow consumers to purchase insurance across state lines
Unshackle HSAs by allowing funds to be used for insurance premiums
Promote “co-insurance” products
Promote alternatives to “fee for service”
Encourage “Consumer Reports”-type ratings of alternative insurance plans

In place of Obamacare, Mitt will pursue policies that give each state the power to craft a health care reform plan that is best for its own citizens. The federal government’s role will be to help markets work by creating a level playing field for competition.*
What about those states that choose to enact nothing?

But when asked about parts of Obama Care which are already in place, Romney said he would keep them. Hence, he’s not going to get rid of Obama Care, he can’t replace it totally without Congress rejecting it, which will never happen, and then replace it with a whole new plan, which will take two years of debate.

He will do as he said, he’ll replace parts of it, where he can, with his plan, which isn’t much different than what it is now.

He’ll probably remove the HHS mandate on contraception, if it’s still in place and if he gets elected.

My guess is, after Obama’s move to include God and Cardinal Dolan in the DNC convention means he’ll take out the contraception mandate before the election.

Obama will do nothing to help out the Catholic Church. Nothing.

Vote Romney if you value the future of the Church in America!

Just watched a Fox News report on the military vote. In a nutshell, the vote is expected to be down by 25% or more. It seems that soldiers are not applying for absentee ballots.

They specifically mention Ohio, and stated that only 1.7% of eligible Ohio military voters had applied for a ballot.

If historic trends are a yardstick, this doesn’t bode well for Mr. Romney.

Well fear mongering won’t get people to vote your way.

I’ll think for myself thank you.

Jim

Ah yes, the old states rights argument.

John
Why the sarcasm? If a state doesn’t pass a healthcare reform that is desired by the citizens of that state, then the citizens of the state can elect a governor and legislature that will. You might call that the " old democracy argument" in contrast to the Obama " ram Obama-care down everyone’s throats" argument.

Yes, because we all know that the President can act unilaterally and will be in for life.

Oh wait,

John

Jim
If you want to think things through for yourself, perhaps you could start with Obama/Sebilius’ HHS mandate imposed on the Catholic Church.

Ishii

And this was before the SCOTUS approved the mandate.

Also, Romney will not have the 60 Republican votes in the senate to repeal Obama Care.

Also, what he said to David Gregory on Meet The Press makes more sense than the article you posted

Jim
The political analysis I’ve heard says that the GOP could indeed repeal Obamacare with a simple majority using existing senate rules.

The US has a vested interest in protecting the safety, health and liberty of its citizens. How long might it take to elect a new state government?

I hear a lot of references to slavery on this board. Should that have been a states rights issue? Should we have allowed states to decide an issue like that?

Vote for whomever you want.

What I said was not ‘fear mongering’.

Obama’s actions speak for themselves. He has done nothing for the Church, nor do I expect him to adopt pro-Catholic policies in the future.

If you want to vote for him, fine. That hopey changey thing is obviously working out for you.
