I feel your pain and dismay, however get used to it,no amount of logic can persuade them to even consider a change of heart and mindWhat I really find just amazing is that even after Obama perpetrated a DIRECT VICIOUS ATTACK ON CATHOLICS, that there are still Catholics willing to defend him.
It’s absolutely shocking how many Catholics prefer Democratic party politics to the loyalty to the Church they say they belong to!

Correct. It’s no longer 2008. This is incredibly important. It’s no longer 2008.Democrat leaning PPP which has a record of oversampling democrats
Just keep in mind that Obama only got 51-52% of the vote in Ohio in 2008 with massive turnout and organization at youth and collegiate levels.
That is gone now.
Also, young people outvoted old people and the Black vote was unusually high.
Rasmussen’s daily swing-state tracking shows Romney and Obama basically tied in the 45-46% range, which means Romney wins most if not all the swing states by 8-10 points.
That’s mostly because of John Kasich. I hear he’s working real hard to sell Ohio to business.
Good for him!
Obama has hurt minorities hugely. The black middle class is shrinking and he hasn’t helped them. Many of them aren’t going to vote.
Also hispanics want the good life. MOst of them don’t want to be warehoused. They see what happened to black people and they’re not having any of it. They’re mainstreaming. The same thing goes for many other types of immigrants, particularly asian immigrants who, on average, tend to rise to the top financially very quickly.
The youth vote is split. The vote fraud problem is being taken care of. It’s a different scenario in 2012 entirely than it was in 2008. No roman columns. He couldn’t even fill the stadium they had rented and had to abandon those plans. This is a real race.

If you, for one minute think that the Obama Campaign is not actively courting the college vote, the union vote, etc, etc, I think you are badly mistaken.
Plus, one out of eight jobs in Ohio is directly tied to the auto industry. That certainly will not hurt the President,
John
SuperLuigi;9757757:
Actually, what she’s trying to say about turnout by class and race has all been documented, John. There was a huge minority vote in 2008, driven by the belief that Obama would benefit the minorities exclusively and dramatically, which just hasn’t materialized regardless of the race cards and nastiness we’ve heard over the last 4 years. The black middle class is shrinking fast as opportunities for everyone drop due to the economy. You know that this is gone how? Are you simply engaging in wishful thinking?

Obama will find that his attempt to make us into a more socialist-leaning society comes with costs–costs that pertain to everyone, and hurt the poor as well as the well-off. Socialist societies only look good on paper. When incentive goes out the window, everyone does worse.
That’s the way it goes. Even if you’re a Catholic bothered by it and you call them and tell them that, they’ll call their pollster sweating to which the pollster will say:What I really find just amazing is that even after Obama perpetrated a DIRECT VICIOUS ATTACK ON CATHOLICS, that there are still Catholics willing to defend him.

Well, I got a reaction. I’m not sure what it means, or whether it explains why many Catholics would rather defend American party politics than the Church they profess to belong to.That’s the way it goes. Even if you’re a Catholic bothered by it and you call them and tell them that, they’ll call their pollster sweating to which the pollster will say:
"Meh, go ahead and legalize gay rights and force the Church to pay for Sandra Fluke’s contraception. Because when those Catholics see that evil word REPUBLICAN on the ballot, they’ll check the democrat box in a lot of cases.
Oh, and what high class restaurant in Crystal City do you want to eat at today? And can we maybe get that as per diem expense?"
Really, just look at what the democrats did to the African-American community. In 1957, Ike wanted to pass civil rights legislation, but Senate Majority Leader LBJ and other KKK democrat Senators blocked it.
When LBJ signed the law finally as president, he was rumoured to have said (I’ll do the G-rated version) “I’ll have these Black folk voting democrat for the next 200 years”.
And if you really want some feedback on government promises, here is what Chief Red Cloud had to say:
“All I know is that they made a lot of promises, and the one they kept was they would take our land.”
That’s a bumper sticker slogan now.
There’s always someone behind the scenes crunching the numbers to see what they can and can’t get away with.

Because I’m in graduate school and saw the excitement of those kids going in in 2008-present and that over 80% of them have to live with relatives after getting a degree because there are no jobs. You know that this is gone how? Are you simply engaging in wishful thinking?

The Obama campaign is courting them? You bet they are! Last time they ran through Ohio a few months ago they were going door to door asking people to come just to make it look like Obama could still draw a crowd.
My, how things have changed in four years.
Also, I get real local with politics.
30-40% of union households reliably vote republican.

Yes, Obama’s a bit desperate this time around, and it’s showing. I will grant you that.Because I’m in graduate school and saw the excitement of those kids going in in 2008-present and that over 80% of them have to live with relatives after getting a degree because there are no jobs.

There is also a segment of the young who can’t get a job and they’re going to hold it against him, yes.
Of course the 57 state gaff was right after he had just finished his campaign tour inHe probably figured one of the 57 States just had to be in Asia
I understand. But when you study how civilizations on this planet work over the last 12,000 years or so, you notice certain patterns.Well, I got a reaction. I’m not sure what it means, or whether it explains why many Catholics would rather defend American party politics than the Church they profess to belong to.
Meaning that I still think: It’s absolutely shocking how many Catholics prefer Democratic party politics to the loyalty to the Church they say they belong to!
I doubt you’ll get many takers on that Jim. Probably just the old response that Bush isn’t running.Of course the 57 state gaff was right after he had just finished his campaign tour in
47 States.
It amazes me that conservatives can give Obama flack over minor gaff’s after the nation had to endure the embarrassment of George Bush’s gaffs for 8 years.
Would you like to compare gaffs between the two?
Jim

You never make mistakes when you speakJim,
I wouldn’t have made that mistake in the 2ND GRADE.
57 states. A little kid could make a mistake about diplomacy, but 57 states. No. Even a little kid could tell you we don’t have 57 states in the United States.Oh and if you want to talk about gaffs, lets do it in the context of the thread.
How about Romney’s gaff’s in Europe during the Olympics, and not to mention a most serious reigniting the cold war between Russia and the USA.
Jim
Maybe you would have if you’d been on the stump for months on end.Jim,
I wouldn’t have made that mistake in the 2ND GRADE.
He just finished traveling through 47 states.57 states. A little kid could make a mistake about diplomacy, but 57 states. No. Even a little kid could tell you we don’t have 57 states in the United States.
