Does this mean they might start putting edges on those silly swords that they carry?

As a 3rd degree Knight myself, I find this hilarious! By the way, just so people know, the swords are part of the uniform for the color guard (which also includes hats & capes over tuxedos). All the color guard members are Fourth Degree (Sir) Knights, but membership in the color guard is not required to be a Fourth Degree member.

Still, though, the Knights have always been stalwart supporters of religious freedom, and we will continue defending our faith, our families, and all those on the margins of society (including the unborn, the elderly, the disabled, the critically ill, the immigrant, the homeless, the prisoner, the mentally ill, et al) from all who would rather we not.

Why do you consider the swords to be silly?
Because 1) they are so 19th-century; 2) they look like weapons, but they are totally useless as weapons, sorta like carrying a broomstick like a rifle; 3) as a personal preference, I find ostentatious costumes/uniforms to be silly.

Do you consider military dress blues silly? Or how about the Swiss Guards at the Vatican? Are they silly too?

Dress weapons are often useless. Mostly for safety reasons. The rifles they carry at the Naval Academy don’t work either. A Navy friend’s new uniform sword doesn’t have an edge.

I’m putting “Deus Vult” engraved dust covers on my AR’s though, if that makes you feel better.

The Swiss Guards are definitely not silly. But their costumes definitely are.

Edit: I think they would look really awesome in urban camo.

The do have uniforms other than their dress uniforms.

And Sig 550/552s as well.

The Swiss Guards are highly trained commandos. You probably don’t want to mess with those guys.
