Maybe because this is my first post.We got our daughters’ dresses on etsy. You can search flower girl dresses and communion dresses. Our girls are super tiny so we had them made.
Not to change the subject-why did this thread get 1 star -that means terrible, right? This happens a lot lately on regular threads…don’t posters know the star ratings?
Well if it weren’t so hot down here…I know you are joking because I am half joking with my response.
Oh, come on! In white, in south Louisiana? Somebody’s gonna think she’s dressing in Klan robes!A burka
Any good bridal store will have flower girl or jr bridesmaid dresses in white.Hi I am new to this forum and would welcome any advice on where to find affordable modest attire for my daughter’s First Communion and weekly Mass.
She is 11 and is too tall for nearly every dress I have found which has sleeves, a modest neckline and appropriate length.
I realize that I am going to have to make her First Communion dress. Unfortunately, this does not solve my weekly problem. Dresses made for little girls and tweets are above the knee and sometimes too revealing or flashy for Mass.
Does anyone know of an on-line store which sells modest dresses for older girls and women, that are reasonably priced?
This.I don’t know how this fits with the weather there, but around here girls very commonly wear a white cardigan with their First Communion dresses.
I am trying to look online for a Communion dress for your daughter, but don’t know what size she wears. May I ask what size she wears? (If that is too personal, I apologize).I have found some on that website, just not any in her size. I do think that I am going to use the organza from her babtismal gown for sleeves and an age appropriate chapel veil.
Thanks everyone, you are giving me great ideas!
It depends on the individual vendor. Check their feedback, history, etc.Maybe because this is my first post.
I have also seen some really nice dresses on Etsy. I have never ordered through Etsy, it’s good to know that it’s a reputable
Slacks and a shirt don’t exactly scream “festive” for the occasion. How about, I dunno, slacks and a shirt.
I’m guessing someone did this because clothing threads sometimes turn nasty. This one has been lovely, though so… shrug.

I think it’s so nice to be thinking and sharing about First Holy Communion dresses and everyone was being pleasant- That’s why I was wondering.I’m guessing someone did this because clothing threads sometimes turn nasty. This one has been lovely, though so… shrug
Sometimes people just don’t understand the system.I think it’s so nice to be thinking and sharing about First Holy Communion dresses and everyone was being pleasant- That’s why I was wondering.![]()
But those might help for the weekly Masses, which the OP was also asking about.Slacks and a shirt don’t exactly scream “festive” for the occasion.
A major occasion merits a pretty dress.
Also, she’ll probably be bummed out if she sees a bunch of other girls dolled up in white lace dresses, veils and little white satin gloves. Being an older girl, she may consider herself “too big” for the gloves and veil, but I think she ought to have the option if she wants it.
Also, take pictures (but don’t make it an ordeal). We took our daughter to some gardens on a college campus and got lots of good pictures.
